Australia Regains Top Spot in ICC Test Rankings

Annual Update Sees Changes in Men's Cricket Rankings

Australia Regains Top Spot in ICC Test Rankings

Australia has surged to the top of the ICC men's Test team rankings, overtaking India, following the annual update. The rankings, which exclude results from the 2020–21 season, now see Australia leading with 124 rating points, followed by India (120) and England (109). South Africa sits in fourth place with 103 points.

The update retains the same order for teams ranked third to ninth, with only nine teams currently ranked due to Afghanistan and Ireland not playing enough Tests, and Zimbabwe playing only three Tests in the last three years. Teams must play at least eight Tests over a three-year period to appear in the rankings.

Despite losing to Australia in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup final, India maintains its top position in the ODI and T20I rankings. In ODIs, India increased their lead from three to six points, leading with 122 points. South Africa has closed the gap with Australia in third place, while Sri Lanka is just two points behind England in fifth.

In T20Is, Australia has moved to second place behind India, with England in third. South Africa has climbed to sixth, just two points behind England. In total, 86 nations have played at least eight T20Is in the last three years and are ranked, with six nations awaiting ranking after playing more matches.
