Record Inflation in Pakistan Puts Pressure on Consumers as Milk Prices Soar
Retail milk prices in Pakistan have gone up from PKR 190 per liter to PKR 210 per liter, causing widespread concern
Pakistan's economic crisis has reached new heights, with inflation soaring to record levels, leaving the general public struggling to cope. Daily necessities, such as milk and chicken, have become more expensive. The government is trying to finalize a loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to tackle the crisis, but until then, consumers are left with no choice but to bear the brunt of increased prices.
In the last two days, retail milk prices in Pakistan have gone up from PKR 190 per liter to PKR 210 per liter, causing widespread concern. Broiler chicken prices have also risen by PKR 30-40 per kg. Chicken meat is now being sold at PKR 700-780 per kg, while boneless meat is fetching PKR 1,000-1,100 per kg. These are hefty price hikes, causing a massive burden on the public.
Waheed Gaddi, a spokesman for the Karachi Milk Retailers Association, has stated that over 1,000 shopkeepers are selling milk at exorbitant prices, and if the price hike is not rolled back, the price of milk could go up to PKR 220 per liter. The increasing prices of milk and chicken are a sign that Pakistan is struggling to recover from record-breaking inflation. Until the government takes decisive steps to tackle the crisis, the general public will continue to suffer.
