Surat Textile Market Fire Safety: Fire Department Urges Compliance

The Surat Fire Department is cracking down on textile markets in the Ring Road area that have repeatedly faced fire safety issues due to congested roads hindering firetrucks. To address this, Chief Fire Officer Basant Parikh has directed all market associations to stock fire safety equipment and conduct regular inspections.

Furthermore, the Fire Department has issued notices to over 70 markets for failing to renew their NOCs. These NOCs are crucial for fire safety compliance. If the markets do not renew their NOCs within the stipulated timeframe, they risk being sealed by authorities.

These fire safety measures come as the Surat Municipal Corporation gears up for the monsoon season. The corporation's pre-monsoon campaign focuses on ensuring minimal disruption to essential services like roads, drainage, and water supply during the rainy season. Additionally, the fire department is proactively checking the availability of safety equipment in markets, considering the increased risk of electrical short circuits during the monsoon.
