Kalpana Soren Files Nomination for Gandey Assembly By-Election
Wife of Former CM Hemant Soren Begins Political Journey
Giridih: Kalpana Soren, the wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, initiated her political journey by filing her nomination for the Gandey Assembly by-election. The event was attended by Chief Minister Champai Soren, Minister Baby Devi, Rajya Sabha MP Sarfaraz Ahmed, Minister Alamgir Alam, Sadar MLA Sudviya Kumar Sonu, and Bagodar MLA Binod Singh, among others.
Under the election code of conduct, only proponents and supporters were present at the Giridih District Collectorate before District Election Officer Ghulam Samdani. Kalpana Soren submitted her nomination forms at the auspicious time of 12:20, following which her convoy proceeded from Utsav Upvan Resort in Giridih, accompanied by a crowd of supporters.
Speaking to journalists, Kalpana Soren expressed confidence in receiving the blessings of the people of Gandey and the entire state, citing the enduring legacy of her husband, Hemant Soren, in the hearts of Jharkhand's residents. She emphasized her commitment to serving the people of Gandey and Jharkhand if elected, highlighting her belief in securing their support.
The Gandey Assembly seat was previously held by JMM's Sarfaraz Ahmed, who resigned during the arrest of then Chief Minister Hemant Soren in a land scam case. Sarfaraz Ahmed has since been elected to the Rajya Sabha. Kalpana Soren's nomination marks a significant development in the political landscape of Jharkhand, with her candidacy drawing attention ahead of the by-election.
