As per agency report, the Hinglaj Mata Temple, located atop a mountain, is revered in Hinduism, believed to be the site where the remains of Mata Sati fell on earth. During the three-day pilgrimage, devotees climb hundreds of stairs to reach the temple and offer their prayers.
The pilgrimage holds special importance for Pakistan's Hindu community, which constitutes approximately 2.14 percent of the country's population, with an estimated 44 lakh Hindus residing in the Muslim-majority nation. Despite their minority status, Hindu festivals and religious events, such as the Hinglaj Mata Temple pilgrimage, are celebrated with enthusiasm and participation from across the community.
Maharaj Gopal, the temple's senior priest, described the pilgrimage as one of the most sacred in Hinduism, emphasizing that those who visit the temple and worship during these three days are believed to be freed from all sins.
