High Voter Turnout Marks Phase 2 of Lok Sabha Elections

New Delhi - The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections witnessed an impressive turnout, with an average of 60.7 percent of eligible voters casting their ballots by 5 pm on Friday. This phase encompassed 88 constituencies spread across 13 states.

The voter turnout in various states till 5 pm was as follows: 70.66 percent in Assam, 53.03 percent in Bihar, 72.13 percent in Chhattisgarh, 67.22 percent in Jammu and Kashmir, 63.90 percent in Karnataka, 63.97 percent in Kerala, 54.83 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 53.51 percent in Maharashtra, and 76.06 percent in Manipur. Rajasthan saw a turnout of 59.19 percent, Tripura 77.53 percent, Uttar Pradesh 52.74 percent, and West Bengal 71.84 percent. Additionally, the Bagidaura seat in Rajasthan recorded a turnout of 73.25 percent.

In this phase, key constituencies such as Karimganj, Silchar, Mangaldai, Navgong, and Kaliabor in Assam; Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur, and Banka in Bihar; Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, and Kanker in Chhattisgarh; Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir; and Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan, and others in Karnataka witnessed vigorous polling.

Similarly, constituencies like Kasaragod, Kannur, Vatakara, and others in Kerala; Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, and others in Madhya Pradesh; Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, and others in Maharashtra; and Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Pali, and others in Rajasthan saw significant voter turnout.

The voting process also included constituencies like Tripura East in Tripura; Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, and others in Uttar Pradesh; and Darjeeling, Raiganj, and Balurghat in West Bengal.
