Gujarat braces for another five days of scorching heat

The Gujarat Meteorological Department has issued a warning for severe heat conditions across the state for the coming week. Temperatures are expected to rise by 2 degrees Celsius in most districts, with highs potentially reaching 42 degrees Celsius. The hottest part of the day will be from noon to 5 pm, and residents are urged to exercise caution during this period.

"The heatwave is likely to persist for another five days," stated AK Das, Director of the Meteorological Department. While some wind is currently blowing from the northwest in coastal areas, it is not expected to bring significant relief. Das further explained that a recent Western Disturbance in North India will not impact Gujarat, but its potential influence after 5-7 days remains uncertain.

According to the department's data, temperatures across the state have been steadily rising. On Wednesday, several districts recorded highs near 41 degrees Celsius. Ahmedabad itself is expected to see a rise from 40.8 degrees Celsius to 41 degrees Celsius today. The hottest period will be between noon and 5 pm, with a potential temperature increase of up to 12 degrees Celsius within those eight hours.

Seven districts in Gujarat have already witnessed temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. Vallabh Vidyanagar in Anand district recorded the highest temperature at 41.7 degrees Celsius.
