Head-On Collision on Lucknow-Agra Expressway: Four Killed, 34 Injured

Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh: A horrific accident unfolded on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway on Tuesday morning when a sleeper bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite lane. The incident, which occurred near Piprauli village in Kannauj district, resulted in four fatalities and left 34 passengers injured.

The bus, carrying around 40 passengers from Gorakhpur to Delhi, reportedly breached the divider before slamming into the oncoming truck. Upon receiving the news, District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, and other officials rushed to the scene. With the assistance of UPEDA personnel, authorities quickly transported the injured to the nearest medical college for treatment.

"Prima facie," stated the Superintendent of Police, "the cause of the accident appears to be driver drowsiness." Efforts are underway to identify the deceased passengers. The injured are receiving medical attention at Tirva Medical College, while the bodies have been transferred to the mortuary. Normal traffic flow has since resumed, and legal proceedings are in progress.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and has directed officials to provide all necessary assistance to the injured.
