Tragedy in Balochistan: Truck Crash Kills 17 Pilgrims on Way to Shrine

Islamabad, April 11: A pilgrimage trip to Shah Noorani Dargah in Pakistan turned into tragedy on Wednesday night. A truck carrying pilgrims swerved off the road and plunged into a ditch in Balochistan's Hub district, leaving at least 17 people dead and over 30 injured.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sakro Wajid Ali confirmed the accident, which occurred around 11 pm. Geo News reported that the truck driver, Karim Baksh, was also injured and is now in police custody. The pilgrims onboard originated from Thatta, with casualties and injured identified as residents of Kasim Jokhio village in Makli. Authorities have identified 15 of the deceased.

The injured were rushed to Karachi Civil Hospital for treatment. Shah Noorani Dargah, a revered Sufi shrine, is located roughly 200 kilometers from Karachi in a hilly region.
