Former Congress Spokesperson Rohan Gupta Joins BJP, Cites Congress' Directionless Approach

New Delhi, April 11 : Former national spokesperson of the Congress party, Rohan Gupta, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, citing the Congress' directionless approach. Gupta officially took membership of the BJP at the party headquarters in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and party general secretary Vinod Tawde. Additionally, Dr. Jahanjid Sirwal, Parampal Kaur, and Gurupreet Singh Maluka from Jammu and Kashmir also joined the BJP.

Speaking on the occasion, Rohan Gupta expressed his reasons for leaving the Congress, stating that he had resigned from the primary membership of the party a month ago due to the party's attitude. He criticized the Congress, claiming that contradictions were becoming evident in the party's views, leading him to believe that the party had lost its direction.

Rohan Gupta's decision comes after Congress nominated him as a candidate from the Ahmedabad North Lok Sabha seat, a ticket he rejected on March 18, citing his father's wishes. Subsequently, on March 22, he resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party. Gupta's move follows another former national spokesperson of Congress, Gaurav Vallabh, who also resigned from the party and joined the BJP.
