SGCCI Mission 84: Surat Entrepreneurs Target US Exports Through Chicago Consulate Meeting

The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) is taking a big step forward in its Mission 84 initiative to boost Indian exports. As part of the program, SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia and Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar recently met with Somnath Ghosh, the Indian Consul General in Chicago, USA.

The primary focus of the meeting was to explore export opportunities for businesses from Surat, Gujarat, and across India, specifically targeting the Chicago market. Discussions included brainstorming initiatives and identifying potential collaborations that could benefit Indian entrepreneurs.

President Vaghasia presented a detailed overview of Mission 84, emphasizing its contribution to achieving the ambitious US$ 5 trillion economy and US$ 1 trillion export target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also highlighted the online platform established under Mission 84, designed to connect 84,000 Indian businesses with an equal number of international counterparts.

Consul General Ghosh expressed his appreciation for Mission 84, acknowledging its potential to significantly enhance Indian exports. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality standards and unwavering commitment in Indian exports.

The meeting resulted in a significant development: a joint virtual meeting between Surat, Gujarat, and Indian entrepreneurs with Chicago businessmen. This initiative, proposed by President Vaghasia and readily accepted by the Consul General, promises to open new doors for export opportunities.

This meeting serves as a crucial step forward for SGCCI's Mission 84. By collaborating with the Chicago Consulate, SGCCI is paving the way for increased export success for businesses in Surat, Gujarat, and across India.
