IPL Captains Gather for Trophy Photoshoot at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium
Rohit Sharma Absent, Opening Ceremony to Feature Captains on Friday
Captains from nine of the teams participating in IPL 2023 gathered at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for a photoshoot with the shiny IPL trophy. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was notably missing from the event. The captains will also be seen at the opening ceremony of the IPL on Friday.
Present at the photoshoot were David Warner of Delhi Capitals (standing in for Rishabh Pant), Hardik Pandya of Gujarat Titans, Nitish Rana of Kolkata Knight Riders (replacing injured Shreyas Iyer), KL Rahul of Lucknow Supergiants, Shikhar Dhawan of Punjab Kings, Sanju Samson of Rajasthan Royals, Faf du Plessis of Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Aiden Markram of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar stood in for Eden Markram as captain for the photoshoot.
The teams are divided into two groups for IPL 2023. Group A consists of Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Supergiants, while Group B includes Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings. The season will feature 70 league matches and four playoff matches. On days with two matches, the first will start at 3:30 pm, and the second at 7:30 pm, with the toss happening 30 minutes before each match.
Star Sports Network is the official broadcaster for IPL 2023 in India, and all matches will be telecast live on Star Sports channels. Viacom18 holds the digital rights for the tournament, so live streaming will be available on the Jio Cinema app on the OTT platform.
