Ahmedabad Police Prepare Security and Traffic Action Plan for Upcoming IPL Match
3,000 Officers Deployed, Road Closures, and Increased Public Transportation to Ensure Smooth Event
Ahmedabad police have developed a comprehensive action plan for the IPL match scheduled for March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This plan includes deploying 3,000 officers, including senior personnel, for security and creating 20 parking plots to prevent parking issues. A free shuttle service will also be available from the parking plots to the stadium.
During the IPL series, the road from Janpath T to Motera near the stadium will be closed. City Police Commissioner has issued a statement informing that the closure will be in effect from 2 pm to 12 midnight. The entry of spectators into the stadium will start from 3 pm.
To facilitate easy movement, 29 BRTS buses have been added, and AMTS routes have been increased. The Metro will run until 2:30 am, with trains arriving every 8 to 10 minutes. IPL matches will also be held at Motera Stadium on April 9, 16, 25, and in May on May 2, 7, and 15.
This time, a shuttle service will be provided from distant parking locations to address the previous issue of spectators struggling to reach the stadium from parking lots. Traffic Department DCP Neeta Desai emphasizes that parking is the most significant challenge during matches. The Gujarat Titans team has established Show My Parking, which has allocated 20 parking plots, including separate spaces for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and VIP parking.
The city police have urged match attendees to use buses and the Metro for transportation to alleviate traffic congestion.
