Indian Stock Market Scales New Heights: BSE Market Cap Surpasses ₹400 Lakh Crore

New Delhi, India - April 8th : The Indian stock market continued its remarkable ascent on Monday, with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) reaching a historic milestone. For the first time ever, the market capitalization (market cap) of companies listed on the BSE surpassed a staggering ₹401.10 lakh crore (₹40,11,601.89 crore).

This achievement comes on the back of a sustained rally across all segments of the market. Blue-chip, mid-cap, and small-cap indices all experienced significant growth, propelling the overall market capitalization to new heights.

This surge marks an impressive acceleration in the market's growth trajectory. Just nine months ago, in July 2023, the BSE crossed the ₹300 lakh crore mark. Prior to that, in February 2021, the market cap had reached ₹200 lakh crore, and in March 2014, it had touched ₹100 lakh crore.

Coinciding with this momentous occasion, the BSE Sensex, a key stock market index, is currently trading at a record high of 74,744.41, reflecting a gain of 0.67% or 496.19 points.
