Six Killed in Road Accident on Jhansi-Mirzapur National Highway in Chitrakoot
Auto Rickshaw Collides with Dumper, Two Remain Injured
Chitrakoot (UP): The death toll in a road accident on the Jhansi-Mirzapur National Highway in Karvi Kotwali area has risen to six. The accident occurred on Tuesday morning when a speeding dumper collided with an auto rickshaw carrying pilgrims.
Five people died on the spot from the auto rickshaw, which was carrying eight passengers. Three others were critically injured and taken to the hospital, where one succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The deceased have been identified as Anirudh (30), Akhilesh (28), Atar Singh (residents of Kannauj district), Nidhi Soni (19), Dharmendra (residents of Hamirpur), and Nirbhay (20) from Chitrakoot.
The auto rickshaw driver, Suraj (resident of Bedi Pulia), and Sumit Sahu (resident of Sumerpur, Hamirpur) are undergoing treatment at a higher center in Prayagraj. The police have taken possession of the dumper and are investigating the accident.
