Prime Minister Modi Unveils Rs 90 Commemorative Coin Marking RBI's 90 Years

Mumbai, 01 April - Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a commemorative coin worth Rs 90 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Mumbai on Monday. The coin, made of 40 grams of pure silver, features the bank's logo on one side and the denomination of Rs 90 on the other.

The coin's design includes the word 'Bharat' in Hindi on the right side and in English on the left. It is composed of 99.9 percent pure silver, and is set to be priced between Rs 5200 to 5500. The release of this coin follows previous commemorative coins issued by the RBI, including those for the Golden Jubilee in 1985 and the Platinum Jubilee in 2010.

The Finance Ministry of the Government of India issued a gazette notification on 19 March 2024, announcing the release of the Rs 90 coin. Bank employees and coin collectors across the nation have shown great enthusiasm for this limited edition coin.

Prime Minister Modi praised the RBI's 90 years of achievements, highlighting its pivotal role in strengthening the country's banking system and its direct impact on the economy. He also commended the RBI for its efforts in promoting financial inclusion among the populace.
