Rajkot Handicraft Haat Draws Crowds and Sales, Boosting Local Artisans
Over ₹60 Lakh Worth of Handcrafted Goods Sold in Three-Day Exhibition
Rajkot – The three-day "Hastkala Haat" exhibition, themed "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat," recently concluded in Rajkot, attracting a large number of visitors and generating over ₹60 lakh in sales. The event, held at Shastri Maidan, was organized in collaboration with the North Eastern Handicraft and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC) and Indext-C.
During the three-day fair, 104 artisans, including 48 from the Northeast, 57 from Gujarat, and 10 from live demonstrations, participated in the event. On the first day, artisans earned ₹17.64 lakh, followed by ₹26.48 lakh on the second day, and ₹16.64 lakh on the third day.
Artisans from Assam and Nagaland were among the top sellers, with sarees, bamboo products, and furniture proving to be the most popular items. The handicraft fair featured over 100 artisans from eight states, including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, showcasing their craft in various stalls.
More than 50 stalls at the fair displayed a wide array of Gujarat's handicrafts, including Mati Work, Kutchi Bandhani, Ajrakh Block Print, Kutchi Embroidery, Leather Work, Bead Work, Double Ikat Patola, Kutchi Shawl, Handloom Weaving, Sarees, Dupattas, Shawls, Woolen Handloom Items, Pech Work, Meenakari Work, and Motikam home decorations. In addition, artisans specializing in sheet patti, cane and bamboo, pearl work, blacksmithing, dry flower basket trays, jute and wood work, jewelry, dolls and toys, and handloom and handicrafts participated in the event.
