Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals Announce Last-Minute Replacements for IPL 2024

New Delhi, March 22 : Just as the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season gets underway, two teams, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, have announced replacements for players ruled out due to injury and personal reasons.

Gujarat Titans will see BR Sharath don their jersey as a replacement for wicketkeeper-batsman Robin Uthappa, who suffered an injury that will keep him out of the tournament. Sharath, a Karnataka wicketkeeper-batsman with experience in domestic cricket, joins the Titans for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, will be without spinner Adam Zampa, who withdrew from the IPL due to personal reasons. Taking his place in the Royals' squad is all-rounder Tanush Kotian, a recent contributor to Mumbai's Ranji Trophy victory. Kotian joins the Royals at his base price of Rs 20 lakh, bringing his experience from 23 T20s, 26 first-class matches, and 19 List A matches for Mumbai.

The IPL season kicks off today with the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
