Food Poisoning Outbreak in Gondal: Over 60 Fall Ill After Breakfast at Temple
Migrant Workers and Gurukul Students Affected, Medical Team Rushed from Rajkot
An incident of mass food poisoning has emerged from Gondal, Gujarat, where over 60 people fell sick after having breakfast at the Temple on Wednesday. Among those affected are 30 migrant workers who were admitted to Veerpur Government Hospital and 30 students studying at the Gondal Gurukul.
According to reports, a group of 30 migrant workers from Anand, Nadiad, and Gandhinagar had visited the temple for dinner on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, after consuming breakfast at the temple, the group departed for Kagwad Khodaldham. However, while traveling, they began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning, including vomiting and fever, prompting them to seek medical attention at Veerpur Hospital.
The incident also affected students residing at the Gondal Gurukul, who reportedly consumed the same breakfast. Medical teams, including staff from the Civil Hospital, Shriram Hospital, and private practitioners, have been deployed to treat the affected students within the Gurukul premises.
Upon receiving information about the outbreak, local authorities including provincial officials and the Tehsildar rushed to the scene. Rajkot Civil Hospital has been placed on alert, with a dedicated 40-bed ward prepared to handle any additional patients. The administration has also dispatched a medical team consisting of doctors and 21 nursing staff from Rajkot to Gondal to assist with the situation.
