Maharashtra ATS Arrests Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Employee for Espionage

Mumbai, March 11 - The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested an employee of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL) for allegedly leaking sensitive information about restricted areas to a Pakistani intelligence spy. The employee reportedly fell into a honey trap set by a female spy from Pakistan.

The arrested individual, identified as Kalpesh Baikar (31 years old), a resident of Alibaug in Raigarh district, had completed a fitter course from an ITI college in Alibaug. In May 2014, he was recruited as a Structural Fabricator at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Mumbai, which specializes in building warships, submarines, and offshore platforms for the Indian Navy.

According to the ATS, Baikar had been chatting with a woman on social media for several months. Their conversations escalated to the point where Baikar, who had access to sensitive areas at work, allegedly shared important information with his social media acquaintance in exchange for money. ATS sources suggest that the woman was an agent of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan, attempting to honeytrap Baikar and gather sensitive information.

ATS is currently investigating the duration of Baikar's association with the Pakistani female spy and the extent of sensitive information he may have shared. A case has been registered against Baikar and others in his contact list under the Official Secrets Act. The ATS team is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
