Surat : Subhash Dawar Appointed Chairman of Gujarat Grappling Committee
Annual Meeting of Grappling Committee of India Concludes with Focus on Development
Subhash Dawar, a prominent figure in the world of business & entertainment industry from Surat, has been appointed as the chairman of the Gujarat Grappling Committee. This announcement came during the annual meeting of the Grappling Committee of India, held at the PWD Rest House in Gurugram on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
The meeting, presided over by GCI Chairman Dinesh Kapoor, saw participation from representatives of 22 states. Discussions were held regarding various upcoming tournaments, including the National Championship, South Asian Championship, and Asian Championship. Several key committees, such as the Disciplinary Committee, Women's Grievance Committee, and Technical Committee, were formed to oversee the smooth conduct of these events.
One of the main focuses of the meeting was the development of grappling sport across the country. It was decided to emphasize training programs and to invite foreign trainers to provide maximum exposure to the athletes. Additionally, the formation of zones in some states was also agreed upon to streamline the administration of the sport.
Subhash Dawar, known for his successful leadership in the World Championship held in Moscow in November 23, where Gujarat won 105 medals, has been instrumental in promoting grappling in the state. His appointment as the chairman of the Gujarat Grappling Committee is seen as a step towards furthering the state's presence in the international sporting arena.
The meeting concluded with the presence of Chairman Mirza Saab and Secretary Amit Kalsaria from Gujarat, who congratulated and welcomed Subhash Dawar to his new role.
