Police Bust Ghee Duplication Ring in Surat
Three Arrested, Over 6 Liters of Fake Ghee Seized
In a crackdown on food adulteration, Surat police have arrested three individuals involved in selling duplicate ghee under the brand name Sumul Dairy. The arrests were made based on a tip-off received by the legal team of Sumul Dairy.
Acting on the information, authorities conducted a raid on a shop in the Varachha area, where they found evidence of fake ghee being sold. Three people, including two shop owners, a partner, and the supplier of the duplicate ghee, were apprehended. A total of 12 pouches of 500 ml each, containing the adulterated product, were seized.
This operation exposed a ring that was putting public health at risk by selling imitation ghee in packaging designed to resemble the trusted Sumul Dairy brand. The police are currently investigating the matter further to identify any potential links to a larger distribution network.
