Tanker Drags Car for 500 Meters Before Coming to a Halt

Surat, Palsana - A horrifying traffic accident occurred on the National Highway at Palsana, Surat, when a tanker crashed into a car and dragged it for approximately 500 meters. The incident, which was captured on video, went viral on social media and prompted an investigation by the Surat district police.

According to Palsana PI Ajitsinh Chavda, the accident took place around 6:30 pm last Sunday. The car driver was traveling towards the service road of the highway from Decent Hotel on NH-48, Mumbai Ahmedabad, when a tanker en route to Kadodara struck the car on the service road. As the tanker was moving at a low speed, the car became lodged in front of it.

In a panic, the tanker driver attempted to apply the brakes, but they failed, resulting in the car being dragged for about 500 meters. The harrowing ordeal finally ended when the driver steered the tanker into a divider, bringing it to a stop.

Miraculously, the car driver sustained only minor injuries in the accident. The tanker driver agreed to compensate the car driver for damages, leading the car driver to refrain from filing a formal complaint with the police. Palsana police recorded the car driver's statement and completed the necessary paperwork before allowing him to leave the station.

This alarming incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers on the road and underscores the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and safety checks. The Surat district police continue to encourage all drivers to exercise caution and prioritize safety when navigating the busy highways.
