BJP Welcomes LPG Price Cut on Women's Day, Credits Modi for Women Empowerment

New Delhi, March 8 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hailed the government's decision to slash the price of LPG gas cylinders by Rs 100 on the occasion of International Women's Day. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Friday, spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Government of India for the historic decision, describing it as a significant step for women empowerment. Poonawalla also highlighted the extension of the Ujjwala scheme for another year, emphasizing the government's commitment to empowering women.

Poonawalla praised Prime Minister Modi's policies for their focus on empowering women at every stage of life, from birth to adulthood. He highlighted the government's initiatives such as the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, which has positively impacted the sex ratio in India, and efforts to improve girls' education through the construction of 10 lakh toilets in schools, reducing dropout rates from 70% to 30%.

Poonawalla also noted that many state governments are implementing schemes like Ladli to support adolescent girls, and highlighted the creation of 3.2 crore bank accounts for women under the Mudra Yojana, as well as the reduction in stamp duty to facilitate women becoming homeowners. He credited the Modi government for creating millions of female millionaires in the country and mentioned the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which allows women to participate in policy-making.

Turning his attention to Mamata Banerjee, Poonawala criticized the West Bengal government for allegedly protecting individuals involved in the Sandeshkhali incident while attacking the Modi government's actions against Shahjahan, who he claimed was being protected by Banerjee's administration. Poonawala questioned the motive behind protecting Shahjahan and demanded transparency in the Sandeshkhali case.
