Prime Minister Modi Hails Development in Jammu and Kashmir Post Article 370 Abrogation

Srinagar/New Delhi, March 7 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the developmental strides in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, stating that the region is now experiencing unprecedented growth. Addressing the 'Developed India, Developed Jammu and Kashmir' program at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, Modi emphasized the government's prioritization of Jammu and Kashmir's development.

During the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated several projects worth over Rs 6,400 crore and handed over appointment letters to around 1000 new government recruits from Jammu and Kashmir. Modi highlighted the significance of the abrogation of Article 370, stating, "Today, Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing remarkable development because it is now free from the constraints imposed by Article 370. For decades, the Congress and its allies misled the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their political gain."

Taking a dig at the previous National Conference and Congress governments in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi criticized their focus on dynastic politics and alleged corruption. He stated, "Jammu and Kashmir either benefited everyone through Article 370 or only a few political families. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have realized that they were misled for decades."

Assuring the people of Jammu and Kashmir of sustained development efforts, Modi pledged that the region would witness accelerated progress in the next five years. He described the new Jammu and Kashmir as a fulfillment of the vision for which Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had sacrificed. Modi expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the people of Jammu and Kashmir, promising to continue his efforts to win their hearts.

Highlighting the potential of Jammu and Kashmir in tourism, agriculture, and youth leadership, Modi emphasized that a developed Jammu and Kashmir is integral to a developed India. He announced initiatives such as 'Dekho Apna Desh People's Choice' campaign and 'Chalo India' campaign to promote tourism in the region.

Modi also touched upon the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, highlighting its revival from near bankruptcy due to mismanagement and corruption. He emphasized that the government's commitment to the region's progress is unwavering, with a focus on inclusive development and empowerment of the local population.
