Paris 2024 Olympic Village Ready to Welcome Athletes

Paris, March 1st: The highly anticipated 2024 Olympic Village in Paris is officially complete and ready to receive athletes. French President Emmanuel Macron himself visited the village on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the preparations for the upcoming Games.

Sustainable Living after the Games: Spanning 52 hectares, the village will house around 14,500 athletes and their staff during the Olympics and 9,000 for the Paralympics. However, its legacy extends beyond the Games. Following the competitions, the village will be transformed into a thriving, eco-friendly neighborhood boasting 2,800 apartments, schools, shops, offices, and public green spaces.

A Commitment to Sustainability: Built with environmental responsibility in mind, the village utilizes various sustainable practices. Low-carbon concrete, timber structures, and renewable geothermal heating are employed to significantly reduce the project's carbon footprint. Additionally, a water-processing plant will recycle water used to care for the village's extensive greenery.

Legacy Beyond the Games: Organizers anticipate that over 6,000 residents will call the village home after the Games. A third of the apartments will be designated for private ownership, another third for public housing, and the remaining available for rent.

A Symbol of Collaboration: The completion of the Olympic Village represents the culmination of seven years of collaborative effort. Following Paris's successful bid for the Games, the symbolic key to the village was officially handed over from Solideo, the company responsible for Olympic infrastructure, to Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet. With just four months left until the first athletes arrive, the village stands as a testament to Paris's readiness to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
