President Draupadi Murmu Encourages Jharkhand Central University Students to Contribute to National Development
In her address at the university's convocation, President Murmu emphasized the role of youth in building a prosperous India.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), 28 February - President Draupadi Murmu delivered a stirring address at the third convocation ceremony of Jharkhand Central University (CUJ) held at the Cherry Manatu campus in Ranchi. Encouraging the students to contribute significantly to the country's prosperity and development, President Murmu highlighted the pivotal role of youth as the nation's greatest natural resource.
"With over 55 percent of the population belonging to the youth demographic, we are poised to become the third-largest economy in the world by 2030," remarked President Murmu. She stressed the need to create favorable conditions to realize the vision of an educated and prosperous India by 2047, urging the youth to not only build successful lives for themselves but also actively participate in nation-building.
Expressing her joy at attending the convocation ceremony, President Murmu congratulated the graduating students and commended their achievements. She particularly lauded the students who received gold medals for their academic excellence. She also extended her congratulations to the parents, guardians, and professors who supported and guided the students throughout their academic journey.
President Murmu drew attention to the significance of the Swarnarekha river flowing near the CUJ campus, stating that it is believed to bestow knowledge upon those who drink its water. She emphasized the university's motto, "Jnanathi Buddhi Kaushalam," which underscores the development of intelligence and skill through knowledge. President Murmu expressed confidence in the students' ability to apply the knowledge gained from CUJ to tackle complex challenges in their lives.
Celebrating the achievements of women, President Murmu highlighted that nearly 50 percent of the students receiving gold medals were female. She praised the determination and success of these women, calling them an inspiration for society and for every daughter aspiring for a bright future.
President Murmu also praised CUJ for its efforts to preserve and promote local cultural heritage, including setting up special centers for this purpose. She commended the university's eco-friendly initiatives, such as the green architecture of the Cherry Manatu Campus and the eco-conscious design of the Brambe campus, which avoids tree cutting.
At the convocation ceremony, President Murmu awarded the Chancellor's Medal to three students: Shubham Bhattacharya for Integrated M.Tech., Utpal for M.Tech., and Abhijeet Ganguly for M.Sc. A total of 67 medals were awarded, including 58 gold medals and 29 PhD degrees.
This visit marks President Murmu's second trip to Ranchi since assuming office. She had previously visited on May 24 for various events, including the inauguration of the new Jharkhand High Court building and a function organized by the Union Tribal Ministry.
