Surat : Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Celebrates 55th Graduation Ceremony with Cultural Flourish
17,375 Students Awarded Degrees, First Posthumous Ph.D. Degree Conferred
The 55th graduation ceremony of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University was a momentous occasion, marked by a special emphasis on Indian tradition and digital innovation. Over 17,375 students were awarded degrees across 96 courses from 12 faculties, with His Excellency Acharya Devvrat and State Education Minister Prafulla Panseria gracing the event.
Vedic Chants and Traditional Attire Set the Stage
For the first time, the ceremony commenced with the chanting of mantras from Hindu scriptures by 11 Rishikumars and 10 Bhudevs, invoking the ancient Gurukul tradition. This unique addition resonated with Minister Panseria, who remarked on the ceremony's reflection of a resurgent Indian cultural identity. Additionally, a distinctive feature was the conferment of degrees in traditional Indian attire, replacing the customary black coats and caps. This initiative aimed to celebrate India's cultural heritage and foster a sense of national pride among graduates.
Digital Convenience: Degrees Available on DigiLocker
Beyond the cultural aspects, the ceremony embraced technological advancements. Notably, the university uploaded all degree certificates (over 17,000) onto the secure DigiLocker platform for the first time. This initiative allows students to access their official documents with ease and facilitates their secure storage. Furthermore, 81 Ph.D. and 4 M.Phil. degrees were awarded, along with the university's first posthumous Ph.D. conferred upon the late Professor Mohitkumar Prakashchandra Patel, whose dedication to his research was acknowledged through his twin sons receiving the honor on his behalf.
This 55th graduation ceremony at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University stands out as a landmark event, seamlessly blending cultural heritage with technological advancements, marking a significant milestone for both the graduating students and the university.
