Prayagraj, Feb 24 : A tide of faith swept over the banks of Sangam in Prayagraj, the "confluence of faith," on Saturday. As millions of devotees thronged the banks of the holy Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers to observe Magh Purnima, the culmination of the month-long Magh Mela pilgrimage.

From devotees observing Kalpavas, a month-long spiritual practice involving austerities, to sages and monks, individuals from all walks of life participated in the sacred bathing ritual. The entire fairground pulsated with devotional fervor, with the demand for offerings like sesame seeds reaching unprecedented levels.

The Prayagraj Mela administration made extensive arrangements to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Magh Purnima bath. Notably, around 2.09 million devotees took a holy dip during Makar Sankranti, the first bathing day of the 2024 Magh Mela.
