Peacock Rescued from Stray Dogs and Kite String in Surat

Surat : In a timely intervention, the Surat fire brigade rescued a peacock trapped in a kite string near Lakshminarayan Industries in Udhna on Friday morning. The peacock was further endangered by stray dogs chasing it, but fortunately, a passerby intervened and drove the dogs away.

Upon receiving the call, the fire brigade team reached the spot and carefully removed the kite string entangled around the peacock's leg. The rescued bird was then safely handed over to a bird organization for further care.

This incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by discarded kite strings to birds and animals in the city. The fire brigade reported rescuing a total of 20 birds entangled in kite strings from various locations in Surat over the past two days, including areas like Mahadev Temple in Sarthana, Gokuldham in Mota Varachha, Sudama Chowk, Vesu Nandanvan, Vesu, Dabholigam, and Limbayat.

Despite the Makar Sankranti festival being over a month ago, the presence of loose kite strings continues to pose a danger to birds and even humans. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible kite flying practices and proper disposal of kite strings to prevent such unfortunate situations.
