Navsari : Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth over Rs 47,000 crore in Navsari, Gujarat, on Thursday. While addressing the gathering, he emphasized the government's focus on both development and preserving India's rich heritage.

Criticizing Past Neglect:

Prime Minister Modi criticized previous administrations for neglecting India's heritage due to "nepotism, appeasement and corruption." He contrasted this with the current government's efforts to showcase India's cultural wealth on the global stage.

Focus on Development:

Despite criticizing past policies, the Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing development projects in Gujarat, including those in Vadodara, Navsari, Bharuch, and Surat. He expressed confidence that these initiatives will strengthen the state's development journey.

Key Project Highlights:

  • Surat Silk City: The Prime Minister mentioned the expansion of Surat Silk City to Navsari, emphasizing India's potential to compete with leading textile producers and exporters.
  • PM Mitra Park: He highlighted the upcoming PM Mitra Park, a Rs 3,000 crore project that will provide housing, logistics facilities, healthcare, and skill development opportunities for workers.
  • Tapi River Barrage: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the Tapi River Barrage, costing over Rs 800 crore, was also addressed. This project aims to address water supply issues in Surat and offer protection against floods and tsunamis.
  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: The Prime Minister acknowledged the disbursement of over Rs 350 crore to Navsari farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

National Initiatives:

  • Digital India: Prime Minister Modi highlighted the success of the Digital India initiative, emphasizing its impact on transforming small towns across the country.
  • Development of Aspirational Districts: He mentioned the progress made by over 100 aspirational districts, previously lagging behind in development, under the current government's initiatives.
