Indian Stock Market Ends on High Note with Nifty Setting New Record

New Delhi - The Indian stock market witnessed a strong finish today, supported by robust buying activity in the final hour of trading. The day began with a modest gain, but the market experienced continuous selling pressure in the first session. As a result, both the Sensex and Nifty indices slipped into the red. However, in the second session, buyers stepped in, propelling both indices back into positive territory with significant gains. Nifty, in particular, achieved a new all-time high for the fourth consecutive trading day. At the close of trading, Sensex and Nifty posted gains of 0.74 percent.

Shares in the automobile, IT, and metal sectors saw heavy buying today. Additionally, indices such as Capital Goods, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Healthcare, Oil & Gas, and Public Sector Enterprises also ended the day with gains. Conversely, the Nifty Bank index closed lower. The broader market witnessed continuous buying, leading to the BSE midcap index rising by 0.92 percent, while the Smallcap index gained 0.54 percent.

The market rally boosted the wealth of investors by Rs 3.25 lakh crore today. The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies increased to Rs 392.13 lakh crore (provisional), up from Rs 388.87 lakh crore on the previous trading day, resulting in a profit of approximately Rs 3.26 lakh crore for investors.

Today, active trading was observed in 3,933 shares on BSE, of which 2,077 closed higher, 1,739 ended lower, and 117 remained unchanged. Similarly, on NSE, 2,145 shares saw active trading, with 1,152 ending higher and 993 lower. Among the 30 stocks included in the Sensex, 20 closed higher, while 10 declined. In the Nifty index, 36 stocks closed higher, and 14 closed lower.

BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 54.42 points at 72,677.51 points. Despite an initial rise, the index faced selling pressure and fell to 72,081.36 points. However, strong buying in the last hour pushed the index to 73,256.39 points, a gain of 535.15 points from the previous close.

Nifty started at 22,081.55 points, gaining 26.50 points. After a dip to 21,875.25 points, buying activity pushed it to 22,252.50 points before settling at 22,217.45 points, up 162.40 points from the previous close.

Among major stocks, Bajaj Auto, HCL Technology, Eicher Motors, Coal India, and ITC were the top gainers, while IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra, BPCL, and Hero MotoCorp were the top losers.
