Gandhinagar, Monday – The Gujarat Chief Minister, Shri Bhupendra Patel, has launched two new facilities for the passengers of the state today. The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has added 151 new buses to their fleet at a cost of INR 53 crore, including 40 sleeper coaches and 111 luxury coaches. These buses will make the journey of passengers more comfortable and convenient.
Along with the launch of new buses, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Automatic Public Announcement System in the presence of the Transport Minister, Shri Harsh Sanghvi. The new system will provide complete details of the bus route, bus number, and platform through audio announcements, making it more accessible for the passengers.
The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has a goal of putting one thousand new buses into operation, with a financial provision of INR 310 crore. Out of these, 500 super express, 300 luxury, and 200 sleeper coaches are gradually being put into service. In addition, the corporation has launched 50 electric buses with zero air pollution, and more will be added in the near future.
In 2020, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation received recognition for being the first corporation to operate 1000 buses with environmentally friendly BS06 norms across the country. In total, the corporation has a fleet of 7966 buses, including 274 sleeper coaches, 1193 semi-luxury coaches, 5296 super deluxe coaches, and 1203 mini-buses.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation for providing efficient, timely, and environmentally friendly transportation facilities to the people. The Additional Chief Secretary of Transport, Shri M. K. Das, and the Managing Director of the ST Corporation, Shri Gandhi, among others, were present for the occasion.
