Lucknow, February 20: The Samajwadi Party (SP) released a revised list of five Lok Sabha candidates on Tuesday, setting the stage for the upcoming general elections. The list features key appointments, including veteran politician Shivpal Yadav contesting from Badaun and a challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi.
Shivpal Takes Badaun, SP Eyes Big Prizes:
- SP national general secretary and Akhilesh Yadav's uncle, Shivpal Yadav, received the Badaun seat candidacy, signifying a renewed alliance within the party.
- The party aimed for a major statement by fielding Surendra Singh Patel against PM Modi in Varanasi, the incumbent's constituency.
- Other notable candidates include Iqra Hasan in Kairana, Praveen Singh Aron in Bareilly, and Ajendra Singh Rajput in Hamirpur.
Leadership Roles :
- Dharmendra Yadav was appointed in-charge of the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat, while Mehboob Ali and Manoj Chaudhary took charge of Amroha and Baghpat respectively.
