Mumbai, December 1. Financial services veteran Uday Kotak on Monday remarked that India’s success is not automatic and urged the youth to step out of a mindset of leisure to take the country to new heights. Speaking at the 84th Foundation Day celebrations of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, the billionaire banker advised young people to struggle for success.

Kotak noted that the current generation is far more secure and confident compared to the previous one, which had worked hard to improve the nation. As per agency report, he referred to the youngsters as the cruise mode generation, explaining that while they must maintain their confidence, they need to snap out of this state. He elaborated that cruise mode implies a belief that since the previous generation provided a good life through hard work, everything will continue smoothly on its own without much effort.

He emphasized that the youth must possess purpose and passion for the progress of the country. Kotak asserted that success will not come automatically but must be earned, urging the students to remain restless and maintain a mindset that acknowledges there are many waiting to overtake them. He further pointed out that after 80 years of peace, the world is undergoing major shifts in geopolitics and technology, which will present serious challenges in the future.

The veteran banker also expressed concern over the lack of fundamental research in India and called for a focus on creating products that the country owns. He observed that India is currently focused on the service sector and manufacturing products for other nations while neglecting indigenous product development.
