New Delhi, 18thDecember, 2025: NTPC organized its 18th Lenders’ Meet at New Delhi, highlighting the company’s operational and financial performance, green initiatives, growth and diversification plans, future capital expenditure, and funding requirements. The event witnessed participation from representatives of leading banks, financial institutions, and credit rating agencies from India and abroad.

Gracing the occasion, Shri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC Limited, spoke about the evolving energy transition scenarios and the opportunities available for NTPC in this changing landscape. Shri Jaikumar Srinivasan, Director (Finance) made a presentation highlighting NTPC’s transformation into an integrated energy conglomerate.

Through a series of presentations, NTPC and its group entities showcased their commitment to sustainable growth aligned with the Viksit Bharat vision of the Government of India. Leading credit rating agencies, such as Moody’s, S&P Global Ratings, Fitch Ratings, and CAREdge shared their perspectives on India’s sovereign rating, the power sector, and NTPC’s credit profile.

The meet also featured an interactive question-and-answer session, during which NTPC’s management addressed queries and observations raised by participants.The event was attended by NTPC’s senior leadership team, along with CEOs and CFOs of major group companies.

The Lenders’ Meet enabled meaningful engagement between NTPC, its group companies, lenders, and credit rating agencies, reinforcing mutual trust and collaboration in support of the company’s future growth plans.

NTPC currently operates over 85 GW of installed capacity, with 32 GW under construction, and has set an ambitious target to scale up to 149 GW, including 60 GW of renewable energy capacity, by 2032, and further to 244 GW by 2037. The roadmap envisages a capital expenditure of approximately Rs 7 lakh crore, with expansion plans across energy storage systems, pumped storage projects, nuclear power, green hydrogen, and chemicals.

New Delhi, November 14, 2025: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has been honoured with four awards at the SHRM HR Excellence Awards 2025, organized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) India. The ceremony, held on 13th November in New Delhi, recognized organizations that place people at the heart of their success, driving innovation and excellence in human resource management.

NTPC emerged as a proud winner in the Public Sector Enterprises (PSE) category, with Shri C Kumar, Executive Director (HR) and Smt. Rachana Singh Bhal, Executive Director (Strategic HR & Talent Management), along with other senior officials, receiving the awards on behalf of the company. The company was recognised for its outstanding initiatives in developing emerging leaders, leveraging HR technology, promoting learning and development and making a meaningful impact on the community.

The SHRM HR Excellence Awards, adjudicated by an eminent jury, celebrate organizations that set the benchmark for future-focused, people-first practices. The recognition reflects NTPC’s guiding philosophy of “People before PLF”, which underpins the company’s HR policies and initiatives across its operations.

Along with power generation, NTPC has ventured into various new business areas, including e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions. 

Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of NTPC Kawas, students trained for the ‘Ramzat 3.0’ programme delivered an outstanding performance at the Taluka-level Kala Mahakumbh competition held on 2nd August 2025. NTPC Kawas provided training in a total of nine categories, out of which the students secured first position in six, second in one, and third in another, marking a commendable achievement. 

In the competition of Kala Mahakumbh, organised by the Gujarat government to promote the state’s folk art forms, Kawas Primary School bagged first place in the Lagngeet category, Damka Primary School secured first in Garba, and Suvali Primary School in Raas. Additionally, students from D. L. K. Shah Sanjeevani High School clinched first position in the Monologue Acting, Folk Song, and Group Song categories. 

Moreover, Sanjeevani High School students won second place in the Lagngeet (15–20 years) category, while a student from Government Primary School, Bhatlai, earned third place in the Folk Song (6–14 years) category.

With this achievement, students who secured first place will now move on to the district-level competition, leading towards the zonal and state levels. This success is a matter of pride not only for the students but also for their schools and NTPC Kawas.

Notably, this achievement is the result of the high-quality training provided by NTPC Kawas. Initially, students lacked both technical understanding of dance and music and access to competition-appropriate resources. Recognizing this gap, NTPC Kawas, under the Ramzat 3.0 programme, arranged intensive training in traditional folk arts by experienced trainers.

‘Ramzat’ is a CSR initiative by NTPC Kawas that imparts training in folk culture to students from nearby schools, enabling them to showcase their talent in prestigious competitions like Kala Mahakumbh.  In 2024–25 Kala Mahakumbh compatition, students trained by NTPC Kawas had reached the zonal level representing South Gujarat and secured third position.

NTPC Jhanor has been awarded the First Prize in the Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) category in the Official Language Shield Competition organized by the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Ankleshwar (Bharuch). This recognition was given for NTPC's outstanding work in Hindi, along with the timely and error-free submission of reports.

The award ceremony was held on 29 July 2025 at the ONGC Ankleshwar Asset, where Shri J. N. Sunkadan (GGM, Asset Manager) presented the award to Mr. Akshay Kumar Patra, Head of Project, NTPC Jhanor.

Additionally, Mr. Vinod Parmar, Junior Officer (Human Resources), was honored for his contribution to Rajbhasha Pravah, the magazine published by TOLIC.

This achievement reflects NTPC Jhanor’s commitment to the promotion and effective implementation of Hindi in administrative functions.

NTPC Kawas, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, distributed 60 desk-bench sets to Government Primary School, Bhatlai on 29th July 2025 to enhance seating arrangements for students. The distribution programme was held in the presence of Shri Anil Shankar Sharan, Head of Project and Chief General Manager, NTPC Kawas. 

Addressing the occasion, Shri Sharan highlighted NTPC’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. He stated, “NTPC continues to work with focus and responsibility across key areas such as education, girl empowerment, women empowerment, livelihood generation, sanitation, infrastructure, and healthcare. All support extended is aligned with quality and long-term impact.”

He further assured the school authorities that NTPC Kawas will remain committed to supporting the holistic development of children through need-based initiatives.

During the visit, Shri Sharan interacted with Principal Shri Nimesh Tailor, teachers, and students to understand their academic needs and infrastructural requirements. Shri Chhotubhai Patel, Deputy Sarpanch of Bhatlai village, appreciated the continuous support from NTPC Kawas and shared insights on the village’s development priorities.

Shri Anil Shankar Sharan, Chief General Manager (CGM) has assumed charge as Head of Project (HOP) at NTPC Kawas, effective 17th July 2025.
In his career spanning over 35 years at NTPC, Shri Sharan has held several key positions, demonstrating strong leadership across various roles. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from BIT Sindri, he began his journey with NTPC in 1989 as a Trainee Executive. Over the years, he has contributed significantly in critical areas such as Maintenance Planning (MTP), Fuel Handling, Operations, Ash Handling, Fuel Management, and Operation & Maintenance (O&M). 

In his distinguished career, he has played key and impactful roles at NTPC’s Korba, Vindhyachal (India’s largest thermal power station), and Sipat projects. 

On the occasion of taking charge, all senior officials and employees congratulated Shri Sharan on assuming the role of Head of Project at Kawas Gas Power Project. They expressed confidence that with his vast experience and strategic vision, NTPC Kawas will scale new heights of operational excellence and sustainable growth in the times to come. 

About NTPC Kawas 

NTPC Kawas, located in the Hazira region of Surat district, is a Combined Cycle Gas Power Plant with an installed capacity of 656.2 MW (2 CC modules). In addition to its core operations, NTPC Kawas has taken significant strides in the field of renewable energy, which includes a 56 MW Solar PV project (comprising 31 MW ground-mounted and 25 MW floating solar). Notably, with a capacity of 25 MW, NTPC Kawas proudly holds the distinction of operating Gujarat’s largest floating solar power plant.
Furthermore, in January 2023, NTPC Kawas successfully commissioned India’s first Green Hydrogen Blending Project, which is currently supplying cooking gas to township households by blending 8% green hydrogen with natural gas.  

The successful closing ceremony of NTPC’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative — Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 — was held on 6th June at NTPC Kawas. The event was presided over by Shri Suresh John David, Head of Project. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Smt. Anu Soni, President, Sakhi Mahila Samiti (HQ, Western Region-I), and Smt. Shanija M. George, President, Swati Mahila Mandal, as distinguished guests.
On this occasion, the participating students enthusiastically shared their GEM experiences through cultural performances and stage plays, highlighting the learnings and values they gained throughout the program.

GEM 2025 was conducted as a fully residential, month-long initiative with a primary objective of ensuring the holistic development of young girls. The program focused on key areas such as yoga, sports, dance, art, creative writing, academic enrichment, computer, health, and hygiene. It emphasized hands-on learning and aimed to equip the girls with skills and awareness that would empower them to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation’s progress.

During the closing ceremony, Shri Suresh John David highlighted that GEM is a significant CSR initiative by NTPC and a transformative effort toward empowering girls from nearby villages through structured education, life skills, and experiential learning. He further added that GEM is not merely a teaching platform, but a journey that fosters confidence, inspiration, and the ability to make informed decisions.

Taking this into consideration, study tours were organized for participants from project-affected villages — Junagam, Rajgiri, Mora, Bhatlai, Damka, Vansva, and Kawas. These tours included visits to Surat International Airport, bird sanctuary, post office, bank, and NTPC Kawas plant. During these visits, officials explained operational systems such as departures, arrivals, baggage handling, and even ATC (Air Traffic Control) functioning in simplified language. The students were given the opportunity to observe and understand institutional operations and technical processes firsthand.

To further promote practical knowledge, special sessions were conducted by NTPC Kawas officials, renowned guest speakers, and academic toppers. These sessions covered a wide range of relevant topics including self-defense, first aid, human anatomy (using torso models), basics of electricity, money management, newspaper reading, water and energy conservation, POCSO Act, fundamental rights, police services, personal hygiene, and fire safety. 
It is noteworthy that Swati Mahila Mandal playes a pivotal role in the success of GEM 2025. The dedicated members of the Mandal stayed with the girls throughout the program, assisting them with meals, academics, and day-to-day care, thereby providing a safe and nurturing environment that resembled a home away from home.

The closing ceremony was also attended by Shri Sanjay Kumar Mittal, Additional General Manager (Operation & Maintenance), Shri Sanjeet Kumar Minz, Additional General Manager (Human Resources), Shri Vineet Gupta, Additional General Manager (Technical Services), along with all department heads, senior officials, and staff members of NTPC Kawas.

Surat : NTPC Kawas, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, organized the closing ceremony of a free eye care camp on 14th May 2025 at its Arogyam Hospital. The camp, which began on 12th April 2025, aimed to conduct the free operation of 100 cataract-affected eyes for residents of project-affected villages.

The cataract surgeries, including lens implantation using advanced equipment, were conducted at Eye-Q Hospital in Surat in collaboration with NTPC Kawas.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chief Guest and Head of Project, Shri Suresh John David, commended the doctors and staff of Eye-Q Hospital for their dedicated support in making the camp a success. He remarked that such initiatives strengthen NTPC Kawas’ ongoing commitment to social welfare.

A review of the cataract surgery project was presented by the medical team of Arogyam Hospital under the leadership of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Premlata Kurkanji. Additionally, spectacles for vision correction were distributed to the beneficiaries.

On this occasion, members of the Swati Mahila Mandal, led by its President Smt. Shanija M. George, also distributed comforters to the beneficiaries as a thoughtful gesture.

Beneficiaries appreciated the efforts of NTPC Kawas and shared that the entire surgical process was carried out smoothly and without fear. They also expressed satisfaction with the accommodation, food arrangements, and post-operative care provided during the camp.

Surat, May 12, 2025: NTPC Kawas inaugurated the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 on May 12, 2025. Organised under NTPC Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, this four-week residential workshop will benefit 40 girls who have recently completed Class 5 from government schools in the villages of Mora, Damka, Junagam, Rajgiri, Bhatlai, and Kawas.

This initiative at NTPC Kawas was launched under the leadership of Shri Suresh John David, Head of Project, NTPC Kawas, with the objective of empowering school-going girls through holistic development and experiential learning. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Smt. Shanija M. George, President, Swati Mahila Mandal, as the Guest of Honour.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Suresh John David encouraged the participants to make the most of this opportunity for self-development and learning. He appreciated their enthusiasm and motivated them to move forward with confidence.

Smt. Shanija M. George spoke about the long-term impact of the initiative and commended the efforts of parents for supporting their daughters' education. She assured that GEM 2025 would serve as a transformative experience, positively shaping the participants’ education and lifestyle.

The program has been carefully designed to ensure the overall development of the participants. It includes academic sessions in subjects like Mathematics and Science, along with training in arts, music, cultural development, computer literacy, yoga, sports, and self-defence.

Surat, 22 March 2025: NTPC Kawas celebrated its 34th Raising Day (Kawas Diwas) with great enthusiasm on 22 March 2025. The event commenced with the hoisting of the NTPC flag by Project Head, Shri Suresh John David, who extended a warm welcome to all officials, employees, their families, union representatives and CISF personnel. He proudly reminisced about the remarkable journey of Kawas Gas Power Station. 

In his address, the Project Head highlighted that NTPC Kawas has made significant contributions not only in power generation but also in community development. He stated that the project commenced power generation in 1992 and has since achieved numerous milestones in energy production and technological excellence.

He further mentioned a recent accomplishment on 12 March when NTPC Kawas played a crucial role during a blackout in South Gujarat by stabilizing the grid through power supply. In recognition of this prompt and effective action, GETCO (Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited) awarded an appreciation letter to NTPC Kawas.

Reaffirming NTPC Kawas’s commitment to social welfare and community development, the Project Head shared that a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) lab was recently established at Pinjrat Government Primary School. This modern facility will benefit approximately 400 students from 13 schools in the cluster, providing advanced education in science and technology. 

Under the CSR initiative 'Ramzat 2.0', students from Suvali Primary School secured the third position at the Kala Mahakumbh (South Gujarat level), bringing pride to the institution. Additionally, NTPC Kawas installed approximately 500 LED lights in Mora Gram Panchayat and initiated waste management and pond rejuvenation projects as part of its commitment to community development.

The Project Head expressed his gratitude to all employees and associated institutions for their continuous support in the growth of NTPC Kawas. He emphasized that the goal of NTPC Kawas is not only to achieve excellence in power generation but also to fulfill its social and environmental responsibilities.

The celebration of Kawas Diwas concluded with a grand cultural evening where employees and their families participated with great enthusiasm. The vibrant folk dances and artistic performances showcased the spirit of unity and collective efforts, making the event truly memorable.

Kawas, 21 March 2025: NTPC Kawas organized a stakeholder dialogue meeting on 21 March 2025 to strengthen its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The meeting, chaired by the Head of Project (Kawas), Mr. Suresh John David, witnessed participation from Sarpanches and teachers from nearby villages. During the meeting, ongoing CSR initiatives were discussed, and stakeholders shared valuable suggestions aimed at further reinforcing NTPC Kawas' commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.

Stakeholders appreciated NTPC Kawas’ proactive approach in addressing community needs and acknowledged the company’s efforts in ensuring the successful and timely implementation of CSR initiatives. The discussion highlighted various key initiatives undertaken by NTPC Kawas, including the installation of LED lights to enhance village infrastructure and safety, renovation of ponds to promote water conservation and sustainability in rural areas, and vocational training programs to equip the youth with employable skills.

Additionally, the company deliberated on actively promoting cultural and sports training to encourage the holistic development of school students and facilitating the establishment of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) lab to enhance educational opportunities through science and technology, thereby making CSR initiatives more impactful. Stakeholders also provided constructive suggestions during the meeting and discussed additional areas where CSR support could further promote community welfare.

NTPC Kawas, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, successfully inaugurated a state-of-the-art STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) lab at Pinjarat Government Primary School on March 20, 2025. The inauguration was conducted by NTPC Kawas Project Head, Suresh John David.

As per agency report, addressing the gathering, David emphasized the lab's significance in fostering scientific thinking among students. He highlighted that the advanced equipment provided in the lab would not only enhance students' intellectual capabilities but also guide them towards innovative scientific learning. The facility aims to prepare students for careers in science, engineering, technology, and research by offering practical exposure to these fields.

The STEM lab, featuring approximately 80 modern models, was developed by Bengaluru-based agency Experifun. Along with setting up the lab, the agency provided training to teachers from all 13 schools in the Pinjarat cluster, ensuring that over 400 students could effectively benefit from the initiative. To ensure sustained success, the agency will conduct follow-up training and evaluations after six months.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Swati Mahila Mandal-NTPC Kawas President, Mrs. Shanija M. George, along with NTPC Kawas Additional General Manager (HR), Sanjit Kumar Minz. Principals, teachers, students, and parents from the Pinjarat cluster also participated in the event, marking a significant step in advancing practical education in the region.

Expressing gratitude, Pinjarat Primary School Headmaster, Takhat Bhai Patel, acknowledged the impact of this initiative, stating that earlier, learning was limited to theoretical concepts due to a lack of practical models. With the introduction of the STEM lab, students now have the opportunity to observe and understand scientific principles in real-world applications, thereby stimulating curiosity and innovation.

Patel further noted that the geographical distance from NTPC had made access to such resources challenging. However, with the establishment of this lab, students would now benefit significantly, and the initiative could also contribute to increased school enrollments.
