Indore, October 18 – A massive fire broke out in a three-storey house in Indore late Friday night, leading to the death of an 11-year-old boy from suffocation, while five members of his family fell seriously ill due to smoke inhalation. The incident took place in the Juni Indore area, as confirmed by the local police.

As per agency report, the fire erupted around 2:15 a.m. in the residence of a scrap dealer, reportedly due to a short circuit. The front portion of the house was used to store scrap materials, while the family lived in the rear section. The presence of foam and sponge among the scrap items caused the flames to spread rapidly throughout the building.

According to Police Station In-Charge Anil Gupta, the narrow structure of the house had only one entrance and no ventilation, making it difficult for the smoke to escape. The family of six living on the first floor began to suffocate as thick smoke filled the house, though none of them suffered burn injuries.

Rescue teams, along with firefighters, managed to pull all six members out of the house and rush them to a nearby hospital, where 11-year-old Rehman was declared dead on arrival. The remaining five, including Rehman’s parents, two sisters, and a brother, were hospitalized in critical condition. Four of them are currently on life support, officials said.

Gupta added that another family residing on the second floor was safely rescued by the emergency team using a tree adjacent to the house. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the cause and circumstances of the fire.

Bhopal, May 31 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive women empowerment rally in Bhopal on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, delivered a strong message against cross-border terrorism, stating that India will no longer tolerate proxy wars executed through terrorists. He warned that any provocation will now be met with overwhelming force, adding that those aiding terrorism will face serious consequences.

Modi referenced the recent 'Operation Sindoor' launched by Indian armed forces in response to the killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam earlier this month. He said that this operation was the largest and most successful counter-terrorism strike in Indian history, targeting nine terrorist bases deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including those of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Describing the cultural symbolism of the operation’s name, the Prime Minister stated that 'Sindoor', traditionally associated with marital commitment and strength in Indian culture, was chosen to reflect both national pride and feminine power. He noted that in Hindu tradition, even Lord Hanuman is depicted applying sindoor, and the substance is used in the worship of powerful deities, symbolizing courage and valor.

Ujjain, April 16 : Renowned Gujarati singer and actress Kinjal Dave visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain on Wednesday, where she offered prayers and participated in the sacred Bhasma Aarti. Immersed in devotion, she expressed joy after witnessing the divine rituals for the first time.

As per agency report, Kinjal Dave sat in the Nandi Hall and performed meditation and worship of Lord Mahakaleshwar. She entered through the silver gate and offered prayers under the guidance of priest Shri Ram Pujari, who later presented her with a blue scarf as prasad. Kinjal shared her happiness after the visit, stating that it was her first time witnessing the Bhasma Aarti, and she felt immensely blessed. She thanked the temple committee and the Madhya Pradesh government for facilitating the darshan.

Dewas/Harda, April 3 – Eighteen of the twenty-one victims killed in the tragic explosion at an illegal firecracker warehouse in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district were cremated on Thursday along the banks of the Narmada River in the Nemawar area of Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh.

As per agency report, the deceased included ten residents from Dewas district and eight from Harda district. The explosion occurred on Tuesday near Deesa town, claiming the lives of 21 individuals, including five children, and injuring six others. The blast, which took place at an unauthorized warehouse storing firecrackers, was so intense that body parts were scattered as far as 200 to 300 meters from the site.

Among the victims was an Ahmedabad-based factory worker who lost his daughter, son-in-law, two young grandchildren, and two additional members of his son-in-law’s family. The return of the bodies to Madhya Pradesh took nearly 48 hours, and the mass cremation left many grieving relatives and officials deeply moved.

BJP legislator Ashish Govind Sharma, who represents the Khategaon constituency and was instrumental in coordinating the transport of the bodies from Gujarat, expressed his sorrow after attending the funeral. Describing the sight as deeply distressing, Sharma said he prayed to the Narmada River that such a tragedy never be repeated. He affirmed that the government stood firmly with the bereaved families and would ensure they face no further hardships.

Former minister and senior BJP leader Kamal Patel, also present at the cremation, called the incident heartbreaking. He emphasized that the state and central governments, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Prime Minister Narendra Modi respectively, were committed to supporting the victims’ families. This support includes assistance for the education of children left behind.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had announced financial aid of Rs 2 lakh for each deceased victim’s family and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

In connection with the incident, police arrested warehouse owner Deepak Mohanani and his father Khubchand Mohanani on Tuesday night. Banaskantha District Collector Mihir Patel confirmed that several fatalities occurred due to the collapse of the warehouse roof, under which some of the laborers’ families resided.

The Gujarat government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the cause of the explosion. A forensic investigation at the site revealed a small container of aluminum powder, commonly used in firecracker manufacturing, further indicating that illegal production may have been taking place within the warehouse premises.

Banaskantha, April 2 – The aftermath of the tragic explosion at an illegal firecracker warehouse near Deesa in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district has left families shattered, with relatives of the deceased transporting the bodies of 21 victims back to their native villages in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday morning. Among the deceased were five children, all residents of Sandalpur and Hadiya villages in the districts of Dewas and Harda.

As per agency report, one of the grieving relatives, Chandrasinh Nayak, who works at a plastic factory in Dholka, Ahmedabad, lost six family members in the incident, including his daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter Radha (3), grandson Abhishek (10), and two more members from his son-in-law’s family. He shared that his daughter and her husband had recently begun working at the warehouse, while the mother-in-law had been employed there earlier as well.

The emotional toll was evident as Nayak described the loss, stating that 10 of the victims were from Sandalpur and 11 from Hadiya. Rajesh Nayak, a survivor of the blast, recalled that the explosion occurred around 9:45 AM on Tuesday, just as workers began arriving at the site.

Inspector V. G. Prajapati from Deesa Rural Police Station confirmed that ambulances carrying the bodies had started departing for the victims' hometowns. So far, ten ambulances, each carrying two coffins, have been dispatched.

Madhya Pradesh Minister Nagarsingh Chauhan, who visited Deesa along with Gujarat’s Industries Minister Balvantsinh Rajput, stated that both state governments are extending all necessary support to the affected families. He emphasized the shared responsibility and inter-state movement for employment, adding that the tragedy has deeply impacted the nation and will be treated with the seriousness it demands.

Shriram General Insurance Company (SGIC) has secured a legal victory in a case involving a fraudulent motor insurance claim, as per agency report. The company announced on Sunday that the Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the state's Director General of Police (DGP) to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate alleged collusion among doctors, lawyers, and police officials in motor insurance claim frauds.

The case brought to light a network involving hospitals, police personnel, and legal professionals who were found to be submitting forged documents, fake medical certificates, and fabricated drug bills to falsely claim compensation under motor accident insurance policies.

The case specifically pertained to a claimant named Rakesh Waltia, who had sought compensation for injuries allegedly sustained in a road accident. Upon investigation, the claim was found to be fraudulent.

Responding to the court’s decision, Ashwini Dhanawat, Executive Director of Shriram General Insurance, stated that the ruling reflects the company’s robust claims management system, which ensures that resources are directed toward genuine policyholders who truly require financial protection. The company sees this as a significant step toward curbing insurance fraud and maintaining the integrity of the claims process.

Jabalpur: Six people lost their lives and two others were critically injured in a tragic road accident on Monday morning when a speeding jeep collided with a private bus near the village of Pehrawa in the Khitola police station area of Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The victims, all from Gokak taluka in Belagavi district, Karnataka, were returning home from the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

According to Jabalpur Collector Deepak Saxena, the jeep, registered in Karnataka, was en route from Prayagraj when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The out-of-control jeep first struck a tree on the road divider, then catapulted to the opposite lane, crashing into an oncoming bus. The force of the collision resulted in the immediate death of six occupants of the jeep, while two others sustained severe injuries.

The injured were initially treated at a medical facility in Sihora town before being referred to Jabalpur Medical College for advanced care. The victims had set out from Gokak on February 18 to attend the Mahakumbh and were making their return journey through Jabalpur when the accident occurred.

Authorities reported that the bus driver fled the scene shortly after the accident, taking the bus along. Efforts are underway to locate the vehicle and apprehend the driver. Jabalpur's Collector and Superintendent of Police rushed to the accident site upon receiving the news.

The deceased have been identified as Balchandra Gaudar, Sunil Shedashale, Basavaraj Kurni, Basavaraj Dodamani, Eranna Shebinkatti, and Virupaksha Gumatti. The injured, Mustaq and Sadashiv, remain in critical condition and are currently undergoing treatment.

Police have initiated an investigation into the accident, focusing on determining the exact cause and tracing the absconding bus driver.

Bhind (Madhya Pradesh), February 20: In a tragic accident on National Highway-719 in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, three people died and two others sustained serious injuries when a car collided with a stationary lorry early Thursday morning, police said.

The accident occurred around 5 a.m., as the victims were traveling to attend a wedding ceremony of one of the passengers' brothers.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Asit Yadav informed PTI-Bhasha that the car crashed into the rear end of a parked lorry by the roadside. The impact left the vehicle completely mangled, illustrating the severity of the collision.

The deceased were identified as Umesh Rathore, Mangal Rathore (28), and Akash Rathore (25). Two others, Dheeraj Rathore (22) and Mahendra Rathore (20), suffered critical injuries and were rushed to Gwalior for advanced medical treatment.

The victims were on their way to celebrate the wedding of Akash's brother when the accident occurred.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The cause of the crash, including whether poor visibility or driver fatigue played a role, is yet to be determined.

Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, January 2 – In a long-overdue move, 377 tons of hazardous waste from the now-defunct Union Carbide factory in Bhopal were transported to an industrial unit in Pithampur, Dhar district, for safe disposal. This comes nearly 40 years after the tragic Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984.

Transport and Security Measures

The toxic waste was moved in 12 sealed container trucks through a 'green corridor' from Bhopal, 250 kilometers away, under stringent security measures. The convoy reached the Pithampur facility around 4:30 AM on Thursday, as confirmed by Dhar Superintendent of Police Manoj Singh.

“The vehicles are currently stationed within the Pithampur factory premises,” Singh added.

Preparations and Handling

Over 100 workers packed the hazardous material in 30-minute shifts starting Sunday, with health check-ups conducted regularly. “Each worker was given a break after every 30 minutes to ensure their well-being,” said Swatantra Kumar Singh, Director of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department.

Background of the Tragedy

On the night of December 2-3, 1984, the Union Carbide pesticide factory leaked methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas, claiming at least 5,479 lives and leaving thousands with chronic health issues. Despite decades passing, the toxic remnants of the plant remained untreated, causing significant concern.

Court Intervention

The disposal follows a directive from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, issued on December 3, which criticized the authorities for their prolonged inaction. The court set a four-week deadline for the waste to be cleared, warning of contempt proceedings if the instructions were not followed.

Disposal Process

Swatantra Kumar Singh explained the disposal procedure, stating that the waste would initially be incinerated under the supervision of experts and pollution control authorities. Advanced four-layer filtration systems will ensure the emitted smoke does not pollute the surrounding air. Once verified that no harmful residues remain, the ash will be buried in a sealed pit to prevent contamination of soil or groundwater.

The process is expected to take three months if all goes as planned, though it may extend to nine months, Singh added.

The disposal marks a critical step in addressing the legacy of one of the world’s worst industrial disasters, though it continues to evoke widespread environmental and public health concerns.

Niwari/Bhopal, November 28: The Sanatan Hindu Ekta Padyatra, led by Bageshwar Dham Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, entered its eighth day on Thursday, departing from Niwari district headquarters towards Barua Sagar. The march saw the participation of notable figures, including Raghuraj Pratap Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiya, MLA from Kunda in Uttar Pradesh and former minister. Chhatarpur/Bhopal – In a heart-wrenching road accident on Tuesday morning, seven people lost their lives, and six were injured when an auto carrying devotees from Uttar Pradesh collided with a truck near Kadari village on National Highway-39. The incident occurred in the Civil Line police station area of Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh.

According to Valmik Choubey, the Civil Line police station in-charge, the accident took place around 5 am when the auto, filled with 13 devotees heading to Bageshwar Dham for darshan, crashed into a truck. The driver of the auto reportedly dozed off, leading to the collision. The deceased include an elderly man and a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, while the injured were rushed to the district hospital. Among the injured, four are in critical condition and have been referred to Gwalior for further treatment.

Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police Agam Jain confirmed that five people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The victims were all residents of Uttar Pradesh, including the auto driver Prem Narayan Kushwaha, Janardan Yadav, Manu Srivastava, Nanhe, Govind, Lalu, and a young girl named Anshika.

The injured include Monu (25), Ansikha (8), Anushka (10), Sangeeta (50), Harish (20), and Ramsanhi (36), all of whom are from Uttar Pradesh. Sangeeta Yadav, the wife of the deceased Janardan Yadav, emotionally recounted how the family was on their way to Bageshwar Dham for their daughter Anshika's mundan ceremony when the tragic accident occurred.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his grief over the incident through a message on social media platform X. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and assured them that the state government is coordinating with the Uttar Pradesh government for the identification of the deceased and contacting their relatives. He also directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured and prayed for the speedy recovery of those hospitalized. The Chief Minister stated, "We stand with the grieving families during this hour of sorrow and pray for the departed souls."
