A tragic road accident in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district claimed the lives of six people, including a young girl, and left eight others injured on Saturday. The incident occurred near Hingatia village along a state highway when a jeep collided with a bus, as per agency report.

Inspector Umat of Kheroj Police Station confirmed that the initial collision between the jeep and the bus was followed by a motorcycle crashing into the damaged jeep. The motorcycle was reportedly carrying three individuals at the time of the accident.

The police stated that most of the deceased were passengers in the jeep, which sustained severe damage in the crash. The bus involved was traveling from Ambaji in Banaskantha district towards Vadodara, while the jeep was moving in the opposite direction.

All injured persons were rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Himatnagar for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the majority of the victims hailed from Sabarkantha district. The accident has brought renewed focus on highway safety and the need for improved traffic regulation on state roads.

Ahmedabad, September 25 – In a tragic road accident near Himmatnagar in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district, seven people lost their lives on Wednesday morning. Another person sustained severe injuries in the crash. All eight individuals were traveling in a car when it collided with a trailer, resulting in the car being severely damaged. The impact was so intense that authorities had to use cutters to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage. According to Himmatnagar police, all the victims were residents of Ahmedabad.

Deputy Superintendent of Police A.K. Patel stated that the accident occurred near the Sahakari Gin area of Himmatnagar when the speeding car crashed into a trailer. The car, traveling from Shamlaji towards Ahmedabad, collided with the trailer from behind, leading to a chaotic scene on the highway.

The victims were identified as Dhanvani Chirag Ravibhai, Rohit, Sagar Udani, Govind, Rahul, Rohit, and Berth, all residents of Kubernagar, Ahmedabad. A 22-year-old survivor, Hanibhai Totwani, was critically injured and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation into the accident is underway.

Ahmedabad : A high-level investigation is underway following a tragic incident in Vedachawni village, Sabarkantha, where a parcel explosion resulted in the deaths of a father and his daughter. The State Home Department has taken a serious view of the incident and has deployed teams from Gujarat ATS, Ahmedabad Crime Branch, and Gandhinagar Forensic Laboratory to investigate the case thoroughly.

The explosion occurred when a parcel, delivered by an unknown person, was opened at the residence of Jitendrabhai Vanjhara. Ten police teams have been formed to probe the incident, with a focus on tracing the scooter driver who delivered the parcel.

The investigation teams are analyzing the pattern of the parcel bomb and using CCTV footage and mobile surveillance to trace the scooter driver. 

Himmatnagar - A horrifying incident unfolded in Vedgaon of Wadali tehsil, Sabarkantha district, when a parcel of goods ordered online exploded, claiming the lives of a father and daughter. The explosion also left two other family members injured.

The tragedy occurred at the Vanjara residence near Ramdevpir temple in Veda village. The family had ordered electronic goods online, and the parcel arrived addressed to Vanjara Jitendrabhai. Upon opening the package, the electronic goods exploded, causing a loud blast. Jeetubhai Vanjara was killed instantly, and his daughter, Bhumika Vanjara, who sustained serious injuries, passed away during treatment. Two other family members standing nearby were also injured in the blast.

The injured were initially taken to the CHC and later referred to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital. Deputy Superintendent of Police from Idar and other officers arrived at the scene to investigate. Dr. Vipul Jani of Civil Hospital identified the injured as Shilpaben Vanjara (14) and Chhayaben Vanjara (11).

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the explosion.

Vadodara, March 23 - Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidates in Gujarat have surprised many by expressing their reluctance to contest the upcoming elections. Vadodara MP Ranjanben Bhatt and BJP candidate from Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat, Bhikhaji Thakor, have both announced their decisions not to contest, citing personal reasons.

Ranjanben Bhatt, who has been MP from Vadodara for two terms and was set to contest for the third consecutive time, withdrew her candidature after facing opposition from first Jyotiben Pandya and later MLA Ketan Inamdar in Vadodara. This decision came despite banners against her being put up in many societies near Harni Road Sangam intersection, leading to the immediate arrest of Congress workers responsible for the act.

On the other hand, Bhikhaji Thakor, who was slated to contest from Sabarkantha, expressed his displeasure for undisclosed reasons. The BJP had replaced sitting MP Deep Singh Rathore with Thakor for this seat, which has a majority tribal vote bank traditionally favoring the Congress. Thakor's withdrawal has paved the way for the Congress candidate Tushar Choudhary, son of former Chief Minister Amar Singh Choudhary, to contest from this seat. Tushar's stepmother, Nisha Chaudhary, has also won from Sabarkantha thrice in 1996, 1998, and 1999, further complicating the electoral dynamics in the region.

Himmatnagar, Gujarat - The youthful savers of Idar tehsil in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district have achieved something extraordinary that could serve as an inspiration for adults. Instead of spending their money on chocolates, ice cream, and other treats, these children, all aged under 18, have amassed savings to the tune of INR 5 crores through the Bal Gopal Mandali, a local cooperative. Union Minister Parsottam Rupala commended the children's initiative in the Lok Sabha.

The Bal Gopal Mandali, situated in Idar, includes around 17,000 children who have collectively saved an impressive sum of approximately INR 16 crores to date. Currently, they have INR 5 crores deposited in the cooperative's children's bank. These feats prove the fallacy that children don't grasp the value of money, a notion the young savers of Sabarkantha district have convincingly disproved.

Ashwini Patel, the circle's president, emphasizes the importance of instilling values and financial responsibility in children from an early age. She suggests that children who acquire the habit of saving early in life will reap lifelong benefits. Money or gifts received from visitors are not used for immediate gratification, like candies or toys, but are deposited in the children's bank's savings box. The collected savings are used for purchasing educational books and materials or act as a safety net during family emergencies.

The origin of this savings tradition traces back to a family in Idar's Laloda village. Since then, the initiative has grown to include nearly 17,000 children. Currently, the group operates in both Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts. The Mandali has established a system in which an agent opens a savings box monthly and deposits the accumulated funds into the Mandali. Union Minister Parsottam Rupala lauded this unique initiative in a recent Lok Sabha session.

Himmatnagar / Ahmedabad, May 5 (Hindustan Times) - Nirma Bhagora, a talented young athlete from the tribal community of Sabarkantha district, has made her district and state proud by securing a silver medal in the long jump event at the Under-20 Athletics Championship of the National Federation Cup held in Karnataka.

Bhagora, who hails from Vijayanagar in Sabarkantha district along the Gujarat border, achieved a remarkable jump of 5.88 meters in the long jump event during the 21st National Federation Cup. For the past two years, she has been receiving specialized training at the Himmatnagar Sports Complex. Coming from a family engaged in agriculture and labor, Nirma has been determined to excel in both her studies and sports.

In an expression of gratitude for her achievement, Nirma credited the Himmatnagar Sports Complex for playing a significant role in her victory. She also won a gold medal in 2019 and aspires to represent India in the Olympic Games, with the goal of winning a medal for her country.

Sanjay Yadav, a coach at the Himmatnagar Sports Complex, spoke highly of Nirma Bhagora's performance in the long jump event, representing Gujarat. He praised her dedication to practice and acknowledged her past successes in winning multiple medals.
