Mumbai, August 7 – Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is set to return to Indian television with the 17th season of the immensely popular quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC), which is scheduled to premiere on August 11. In a recent blog post, Bachchan expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness as he prepared to embark on yet another journey with the show that has become a household favorite across the country.

Sharing his thoughts, Bachchan revealed that the beginning of a new season still brings butterflies in his stomach, despite years of experience. He described the first day of the shoot as nerve-wracking, marked by early wake-ups and trembling knees, underscoring his continued passion and humility towards the show.

As per agency report, Sony Entertainment Television launched a fresh campaign for Season 17 titled ‘Jahan Akal Hai, Wahan Akad Hai’. The campaign reflects the evolving spirit of modern India, portraying how knowledge is becoming a source of empowerment for ordinary citizens. It celebrates not just ambition, but also the rising confidence and resilience in people as they proudly showcase their intellect.

‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ is the Hindi adaptation of the globally renowned game show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’. Mumbai, April 2 – The much-anticipated new season of the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati has entered its early stages of production, with superstar Amitabh Bachchan confirming that preparations have begun in full earnest. Writing on his blog, the veteran actor revealed that the first step will be the release of a promo inviting viewers to register for the upcoming season.

As per agency report, Bachchan emphasized the significance of dedication and work in shaping one’s destiny, stating that serious efforts are already underway for the next edition of the show. Alongside his announcement, he shared three images on a micro-blogging platform, including one in which he is seen lying on a sofa. Reflecting on his own habits, he shared how deeply engrossed he becomes while watching films or series, questioning whether others experience the same level of immersion.

The actor mused that such deep involvement with a film or television series often leads viewers to momentarily embody the characters they see on screen, adopting their behaviors and perspectives, however briefly.

In his message, Bachchan also extended warm greetings to his fans and followers, whom he affectionately calls his "extended family", on the occasion of multiple festivals including Chaitra Sukhladi, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Eid-ul-Fitr. He wished that these celebrations bring joy and happiness to all, and noted the sighting of the moon in parts of Saudi Arabia, marking the onset of Eid. New Delhi, Dec 29 (IANS) Amitabh Bachchan, the iconic figure of the Indian cinema, experienced a wave of nostalgia during 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 15' when a contestant revealed staying in the same college hostel room in which he did.

This delightful connection sparked memories of Amitabh's Kirori Mal College days, taking him on a trip down memory lane.

Big B, who is the host of the quiz-based reality show, welcomed Avinash Bharti to the hot seat. He hails from Haiderganj, Uttar Pradesh.

During the game, the megastar shared that the makers of the show have shot a video of Avinash.

In the video, the contestant says: “I hail from Haiderganj in Uttar Pradesh. I currently live in Delhi on rent and am preparing for UPSC exams. My family underwent many hardships for me. I want to do something for them.”

“When I miss my parents, I talk to them on a video call. I miss my mother's food and my father's scolding. I am currently preparing for the Civil Services. During struggles, a person walks alone.The day I become successful, my parents will be with me. My friends and the universe will be with me,” said Avinash in the video.

Amitabh was impressed by the contestant’s determination, and congratulated him. “You're determined about your goal in life. And the emotions with which you express it is very rare to see. I'd like to congratulate you,” said the ‘Sholay’ actor.

The video featured the Kirori Mal College, from where Big B graduated with a BSc degree.

Reminiscing about the same, the ‘Brahmastra’ actor said: “There were many good things in the video. One of them was that I studied in the same college.”

The contestant said: “Sir, I'm a junior in your college. Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. I've studied there too. You spent three years in room no. 27. Sir, I've been living in the same room for the last three years.”

Big B continued: “l'd like to know something. That hostel room, you were saying that it was my room. How is it now? Is it the same? It's lovely, right? It's in a corner. You can see the wall from that room. We used to cross that wall to watch movies.”

“Yes, let me tell you that the number of years I spent there proved useless. I didn't gain anything. I just lost. After that, I completed my BSc. And there's not an ounce of it useful in what I do at present. I've forgotten everything,” he shared, leaving the audience in splits.

The contestant then said: “Sir, you were destined to become a ‘mahanayak’ in this decade.”

Amitabh added: “This title is spread by journalists. I don't believe in it.”

New Delhi, Dec 26 (IANS) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is seen as the host of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 15’, was left ‘disappointed’ after Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan was clueless about the former’s role in Hrithik Roshan-starrer movie ‘Lakshya’.

The 2004 coming of age war drama which is based on 1999 Kargil war stars Amitabh, Hrithik and Preity Zinta in the lead roles. Amitabh plays the character of Colonel Sunil Damle, while Hrithik is seen as Captain Karan Shergill.

In the episode 96 of the knowledge based reality Big B welcomed Indian cricket sensations Ishan Kishan and Smriti Mandhana to the hot seat.

For Rs 2000, they were asked: “In which of these films does Hrithik Roshan play an Indian army officer?”

The options given were: “Lakshya, Jodhaa Akbar, Koi Mil Gaya and Kaabil. The correct answer was ‘Lakshya’.

Smriti then said: “There's a song in that film, 'Kandhon se milte hain. I think I still hear it before the match to charge up.”

Big B said: “Sorry, but I love that romantic song more. 'Agar main kahoon'. It's a great song.”

“So, Hrithik Roshan trains at IMA, Dehradun. After that his boss, I don’t who that actor was, he tells him where to go and what to do,” said Amitabh.

Ishan continues saying, “In 'Lakshya', Hrithik Roshanwasn't serious first. He eventually became serious. In that, he cuts his hair short to become serious.”

The 81-year-old actor said: “You're right. But I'm disappointed. Indirectly, I threw a googly. And you're bowled. Sir, I also played a small role in it.”

Ishan was left baffled on hearing this, and laughed.

New Delhi, Dec 12 (IANS) Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan revealed that how the word 'Yahoo' in the iconic track 'Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe' was not sung by Mohammed Rafi but was recorded by writer Prayag Raj.

The megastar is currently hosting the gameplay ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 15’.

Big B welcomed Dilip Mohan Shimpi from Maharashtra's Nandurbar to the hot seat.

For Rs 10,000, the contestant was asked an audio question: “What is the first word of this song by Mohammed Rafi?”

The song played was “Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe”.

The options given were: Hurray, Yahoo, Shaava, and Chak de. The correct answer was ‘Yahoo’.

The ‘Sarkar’ actor shared: “This song is from the film 'Junglee'. The film stars Shammi Kapoor and Saira Banu in lead roles. The music composers were Shankar-Jaikishan and Shailendra was the lyricist.”

The actor then revealed: “The ‘yahoo’ you hear in the song was not sung by Rafi. I mean, the song was sung by him, but when the song was recorded, ‘yahoo’ was sung by Prayag Raj. Prayag Raj is a writer. He has written for many of my films and he performed many vocalisations too.”

“Even in the film 'Coolie', the man shouting ‘Allah Rakha’ the name of my pet eagle, was by Prayag Raj,” concluded Amitabh.

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS) With movie buffs flagging off high prices of popcorn in the multiplexes from time to time, megastar Amitabh Bachchan has revealed a quirky reason of steep prices of the popcorn served in the theatres.

In the episode 82 of the quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 15’, host Amitabh welcomed Sevak Gopaldas Vitthaldas from Godhra, Gujarat to the hot seat. He is a principal at a government primary school.

For Rs 1,000 question, he was asked: “Which crop is being grown in the fields shown in the image?” The options given were- Rice, Corn, Potato, and Apple. The correct answer was corn.

Big B said: “You must have eaten popcorn. Have you eaten popcorn? It is corn before it pops.”

Replying to the actor, the contestant said: “Multiplexes sell popcorn at steep prices. It's costly.”

Hearing this, the 81-year-old actor shared: “Can I tell you something, sir? It has become a habit. You're watching a film and you munch on popcorn. ‘Whoa!’ Then you eat another one. It goes on and on. It does not end.”

“This is why they have increased the price. You need to tell them in advance what size you want. You get a huge tub also. It is for the lovers. You keep it between you two. You keep offering it to her. And both eat from the same tub! At times, both reach out for the popcorn together. It's a nice excuse to hold hands,” concluded the ‘Sholay’ actor.

New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is currently hosting season 15 of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' has shared that social media has become a tool, but trust factor remains a big question. 

Amitabh welcomed Sagar Mishra from Hisar, Haryana to the hot seat, in episode 12 titled as ‘Rishtey Special’ of the quiz-based reality show. He is the student of BBA, second year. 

Talking to the contestant and the audience, Big B said: “The present generation, people of his (Sagar) age and younger, they are headstrong about what to do, which field to be in. We didn't know what to do, what not to do. Sagar, you've started your channel. And do you manage it yourself or do you have a team?” 

Sagar said: “Sir, me and my mother manage it together. My brother also helps me create videos sometimes. But mainly, my mom helps me. If I'm the host of my channel, then my channel's producer, director, scriptwriter, everything is my mom. She gives me ideas for creating the thumbnails. She gives me ideas on what videos to make. So, she contributes more than 50 per cent in creating these videos.” 

The 80-year-old actor asked Sagar: “Are you familiar with social media?”

“Yes, sir, I'm familiar with it. I was born in this era,”  he said.

Then Amitabh said: “Because social media has become kind of a tool. The trust factor is a big question. l'd like to ask your mother. When you sit with him, What topics do you avoid? Or how do you choose a topic?”  

Sagar’s mother replied: “Sir, I watch videos and whatever I find interesting. I make recommendations to him according to that, so, that people find it interesting. Mainly, he listens to me. Sir, he is different from the present generation.”

Mumbai, Aug 25 (IANS) The upcoming episode of the quiz-based reality show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' Season 15 will be an emotional one after a contestant finds a family in the audience. 

A promo shared by the channel Sony Entertainment on Instagram, shows a contestant named Sarvesh on the hot-seat. Big B is then seen asking him as to why he didn't come with any of his family members in the 'Rishtey special' episode.

Sarvesh then said: “My family was my father. After he passed away I had no one to call my family. I am alone.”

Moments after the confession, Big B was seen getting emotional. However, a couple from the audience stepped in and decided to play as a family. 

In the promo, Sarvesh is seen hugging and touching their feet. He then went on to ask Big B: “Can I take permission if I can call them 'mummy and papa'."

A lighter moment from the show was when another contestant made it to the hot-seat. He was accompanied by his wife. 

Talking to Big B, the contestant revealed that his wife has OCD for cleaning. He revealed that he has three bathrooms at home and sometimes after they are sparkly clean, he seeks permission to use them. 

To which, the cine icon had a hilarious reply. He said: “Kaun aisi biwi hai jisko safai ka keeda nahi hota.”

Mumbai, July 24 (IANS) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says the preparation for the 15 season of  the popular quiz game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC) has begun.

Amitabh took to his blog on Sunday, where he talked about the show. 

"KBC preps., have begun and the need to keep at it till the fluency develops and the errors and mistakes do not occur on set.. we are human after all and mistakes do happen but the effort is ever made to avoid them," he wrote. 

He then on Monday shared a glimpse from his Sunday meet with his fans, whom he fondly calls his extended family. The thespian also shared an update for the show.

"The changes that do be heard on the promotional decree now displayed on various platforms, is evident in the game play and by the morrow the ones that do go to KBC shall be in a position to learn of them..and if there be no opportunity to see the broadcast there is the PlayAlong on Sony Liv, which promises I think some better opportunities this season.. more of which shall be determined when the KBC season 15 for Sony begins the begin.." 

'Kaun Banega Crorepati' is the official Hindi adaptation of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' franchise. It has been hosted by Big B since its inception, except for during the third season, which was presented by actor Shah Rukh Khan.

On the film front, Amitabh will next be seen in 'Kalki 2898 AD'. It also stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani.

The first look of 'Kalki 2898 AD' was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con. The grand event marked a significant milestone as it became the first-ever Indian film to participate in the prestigious international Comic-Con.

Big B, who joined the panel discussion via a live Zoom call, shared an interesting anecdote about his upcoming film 'Kalki 2989 AD' going to San Diego Comic-Con.

He shared that he was unaware of how significant this was and that his actor-son Abhishek Bachchan enlightened him about the magnitude.

The popular show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' with megastar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to return with its 15th season.

The makers have dropped the promo making an announcement that registration for the show will start from April 29.

In the promo, Big B can be seen sitting on the host's seat while a woman looks at the map to find a way to reach the hotseat. Finally, she reaches the hotseat by digging into the ground. She asks Big B to play the game to which he responds, "hotseat par pahuchne ke liye ulool-julool haathkande mat apnaayiye".

He says just pick up the phone as this is the only way with registration starting from 9 p.m. on April 29.

"Answer my question and your registration will begin," says the host.

The 14th season had started on August 7, 2022 which marked the celebration of 75 years of Independence. It was attended by Aamir Khan, sports icons including Mary Kom and Sunil Chhetri along with Mithali Madhumita, the first female officer to win the Gallantry Award and Major D.P. Singh, India's first blade runner.

It wrapped up on December 30, 2022. From Akshay Kumar and Padma Shree D.G. Prakash Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and the melodious Shilpa Rao among many others graced the show.
