Kutch, August 8 – Four people were burnt alive and more than five others were seriously injured in a major road accident late Thursday night near Surajbari Bridge in Malia, Kutch. The incident occurred when a car collided head-on with a trailer, leading to both vehicles catching fire. The intensity of the crash and ensuing blaze left the occupants of the car trapped, resulting in their deaths at the scene.

Local residents immediately alerted the police and fire department. Firefighters rushed to the spot and, after considerable effort, managed to bring the flames under control. However, by the time the fire was doused, all four car occupants had perished. The fire department also released a video showing the firefighting operation in progress.

As per agency report, preliminary police investigations have pointed to overspeeding and possible negligence as the likely causes of the accident. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, while the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Forensic analysis is being carried out to determine the exact circumstances leading to the collision.

This tragedy comes just weeks after a similar fatal incident in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on July 25, when a speeding Tata Safari driver ploughed into pedestrians and bikers, killing four people, including a woman, and injuring several others. At the time of that accident, the vehicle was reportedly travelling at over 100 km per hour.

Road accidents have been a recurring concern in Gujarat. Earlier this year, on March 6, three people lost their lives and 19 others were injured in Sabarkantha district when a potato-laden truck collided with a jeep.

Bhuj, May 10 – Amid the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan, authorities in Gujarat’s Kutch district issued an urgent advisory on Saturday, asking residents to stay indoors and avoid venturing out unnecessarily. The advisory comes a day after Indian forces thwarted Pakistani drone attacks in the region and imposed blackouts in parts of Kutch and two other border districts.

As per agency report, the Kutch District Collector posted the advisory on the administration’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, urging citizens to remain calm, stay inside their homes, and avoid believing or spreading rumors. "Do not panic," the message emphasized.

Military sources confirmed that Bhuj, the district headquarters of Kutch, was among 26 locations along the India-Pakistan border where enemy drones were detected late Friday night. In response, blackouts were enforced in several strategic areas to minimize visibility and risk.

Similar measures were taken in Banaskantha and Patan districts, especially in villages close to the international border. In Patan’s Santalpur taluka, several settlements experienced electricity outages as a precautionary measure.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting on Friday with top officials from the armed forces and reassured them of full state support in conducting defense operations without obstruction. State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi also chaired a coordination meeting in Gandhinagar, bringing together senior police officials, district administrators, and officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Border Security Force, and Coast Guard.

Tensions have sharply escalated between India and Pakistan following precision strikes by Indian forces under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.

However, India’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that all attempted strikes on airports, airbases, and other key installations were successfully intercepted and neutralized.

Bhuj, February 21: A tragic road accident in Gujarat's Kutch district on Friday claimed the lives of five people and left 23 others injured when a private bus collided with a truck. The accident occurred around 1 PM near Kera village on the highway, and the injured were rushed to a hospital in Bhuj, officials confirmed.

The Superintendent of Police (Kutch West), Vikas Sunda, stated that the accident took place when a truck traveling from Mundra to Bhuj collided with a private bus. Four passengers died on the spot, while a fifth victim succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

The injured passengers, numbering 23, are undergoing treatment at the JK General Hospital in Bhuj, according to authorities. District Collector Amit Arora mentioned that two of the injured are in critical condition.

The exact cause of the collision remains unclear, and officials are investigating whether the accident resulted from a head-on collision or if one vehicle hit the other. Further details are awaited as the police conduct a detailed inquiry into the circumstances leading to the fatal accident.

Bhuj : A tragic road accident occurred on Friday morning near Raimalbapa Ki Madhi between Lakadiya and Samkhiyali in Bhachau, Kutch district. A speeding trailer from Radhanpur collided with a tractor towing a trolley loaded with castor beans, headed towards the Bhachau market yard. The force of the impact caused the tractor and its trolley to overturn.

The accident resulted in the deaths of three passengers from Shivlakhan village: Lakiraj Singh Jadeja, 20, Jilubha Bhurji Jadeja, 55, and Mitesh Harkha. The tractor driver, Bahadur Singh Jadeja, escaped with minor injuries.

Head constable Chetandan Gadhvi of the Lakadiya police station stated that an FIR has been registered, and the police are conducting post-mortems on the deceased while carrying out other legal procedures.

Two youths from Adipur, Manish Rasikbhai Kataria and Bhavesh Shamjibhai Parmar, both aged 26, died in an accident near Chopdwa in Bhachau taluka on Friday night.

According to the Bhachau Police Chief, the youths were traveling in an I-20 car when an unknown driver of a heavy vehicle hit their car. The car collided with the road railing and the front part of the car was completely damaged. Both the youths died on the spot due to serious injuries.

The accident took place at around 3.30 am near Ramdevpir Temple. Other drivers passing by immediately contacted 108 ambulance, but the youths died before the ambulance could arrive.

There was a jam on the highway for some time due to the accident, but when the people standing there moved the car to the side, the jam got eased.

Bhachau police sources said that both the deceased youths worked in car repairing in Adipur and had gone to Rapar for some work. The accident happened while they were returning from Rapar.

Police have registered a complaint in this regard and are investigating further.

The UNWTO Best Tourism Village award is given to villages that promote sustainable and universally accessible tourism. The villages are evaluated by an independent advisory board based on criteria covering nine areas, including cultural and natural resources, promotion and conservation of cultural resources, economic sustainability, social sustainability, environmental sustainability, tourism potential and development, and value chain integration.

Dhordo is located in the Rann of Kutch, a vast salt marsh in the westernmost corner of India. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India, known for its stunning scenery, rich culture, and vibrant festivals.
