During the final phase of campaigning for the Assam Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a large public meeting in the Barak Valley, making a strong attack on Congress. Shah announced that if the BJP government comes to power, it will rename Karimganj district to 'Shri Bhumi', which will revive the cultural identity of the region.

He termed it an insult to great personalities from Gujarat like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and Narendra Modi. He stated that calling those who do not support Congress illiterate reflects the desperation and degraded politics of Congress. The Home Minister claimed that the people of Assam would take revenge for this insult through the ballot box and would ensure the opposition party's bail is forfeited.

He described Congress as a party that engages in anti-development and divisive politics. Amit Shah praised the central government's historic decision to grant classical language status to Assamese and Bengali, calling it a symbol of linguistic pride. He appealed to voters to choose the BJP-NDA alliance for the security and integrity of the state.

Ahmedabad, January 13: Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Tuesday that it is not easy to erase India's Sanatan Dharma, culture, and the faith of its people, citing the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple despite repeated attempts at its destruction. Speaking at an event in Mansa in Gandhinagar district after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various projects worth Rs 267 crore, Shah remarked that while those who attacked the temple eventually perished, the structure continues to stand proudly at the same spot on the coast of Gir Somnath district.

The Home Minister highlighted that despite being destroyed 16 times over a period of 1,000 years, starting with the attack by Mahmud Ghazni, the Somnath Temple remains standing with its flag waving high in the sky. As per agency report, Shah stated that a grand Somnath corridor is also currently under construction. He emphasized that the resilience of the temple sends a message to the entire world that Indian culture and faith are as eternal and immortal as the sun and the moon. He described the temple as a symbol of India's faith, belief, and pride.

Reference was made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent inauguration of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv on January 11. Shah announced that this festival will be celebrated for an entire year, featuring programs across the country aimed at shaking the soul of India, awakening its consciousness, and strengthening the roots of Sanatan Dharma to the deepest levels of society. He recalled how the temple was demolished by invaders including Alauddin Khilji, Ahmed Shah, Mahmud Begada, and Aurangzeb, yet it was rebuilt every single time.

The senior BJP leader drew a distinction between the mindset of the invaders and the builders, noting that while the destructors believed in ruin, the creators had faith in creation. He observed that a thousand years later, those destructors have faded from history, but the Somnath Temple still stands with pride facing the ocean. Shah credited the post-independence reconstruction of the temple to the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, KM Munshi, the Maharaja of Jamnagar, and the country's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He concluded that their resolve stemmed from the belief that the assault on Somnath was an attack on the nation's self-respect and faith, and the answer lay not in another attack, but in protecting that self-respect.

Ahmedabad, December 28: Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Sunday that a political party cannot expect to secure votes if it opposes everything that appeals to the public. Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, Shah remarked that explaining this simple logic to the Congress leader was beyond his capacity, noting that even Congress leaders had failed in this regard.

Addressing a gathering at a village near Ahmedabad, Shah referred to a recent debate in the Lok Sabha where the Leader of the Opposition asked him why his party faces defeat in every election. The Home Minister suggested that instead of asking him, Gandhi should have directed this question to the people. As per agency report, Shah advised the Congress leader not to get tired of losing, predicting that the Congress party is destined to lose the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

He further claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would emerge victorious in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Elaborating on the reasons behind the ruling party's success, Shah stated that people are connected to their principles. He pointed out that the Congress party had opposed various initiatives including the Ram Temple, surgical strikes against terrorists, the abrogation of Article 370, the Uniform Civil Code, the law against triple talaq, and the campaign to remove Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Shah questioned how one could expect votes while opposing the choices of the people. He reiterated that making Rahul Gandhi understand this simple reasoning was a task beyond his ability, especially since his own party leaders had been unsuccessful in doing so.

During the event held at Navi Vanjar, the Home Minister handed over land ownership certificates to 173 residents. These beneficiaries were originally from Vanjar village situated on the banks of the Sabarmati river but were resettled in Navi Vanjar after losing their homes and land in the devastating floods of 1973. Shah noted that while these individuals were relocated during the Congress regime, they had not received land ownership rights even after the passage of 50 years. On this occasion, Shah also inaugurated the Western Trunk Line, a drainage network designed to manage sewage for approximately 1.5 million residents living in newly developed areas such as Shela, South Bopal, Shantipura, and Thaltej.

Bhuj, November 21. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA in the Bihar elections serves as a mandate against infiltrators in the country, emphasizing that citizens would never support political parties that back illegal immigrants. Addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations marking the 61st Raising Day of the Border Security Force in the Kutch district, Shah stated that the BSF is engaged in preventing infiltration across all national borders.

The Home Minister noted that certain political parties are opposing the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process because they intend to ensure that the names of infiltrators remain on the voter lists. Describing the SIR as a purification of the electoral rolls, Shah stated, as per agency report, that stopping infiltration is essential not only for national security but also to prevent the corruption of the country's democratic system. He remarked that while the government is running an anti-infiltration campaign, some political entities are attempting to weaken these efforts.

Shah addressed the objections raised by the opposition, including the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal where assembly elections are scheduled for next year, who have claimed that the SIR could disenfranchise millions of voters. He clarified that the process is intended to secure and purify Indian democracy and requires the full support of every citizen. The Home Minister declared a firm resolve to remove every single infiltrator from the country, asserting that the decision regarding who becomes a Chief Minister or Prime Minister rests solely with the citizens of India, and infiltrators have no right to influence these democratic decisions.

Warning the political parties engaged in protecting illegal immigrants, Shah reiterated that the Bihar election results reflected the public's sentiment against the presence of infiltrators. He added that parties working to ensure a place for infiltrators in the voter lists should realize that the people of the country will never support such intentions. During the event, the Home Minister also praised the role of the BSF in Naxal-affected areas and expressed confidence that India would soon be free from the Naxal problem due to the joint efforts of all security forces.

Sasaram/Arwal, Nov 9 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused the opposition INDIA alliance of attempting to create an “infiltrator corridor” in Bihar, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is instead focused on developing an “industrial corridor” to boost the state’s progress.

As per agency report, addressing public rallies in Sasaram and Arwal on the final day of campaigning for the last phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Shah said that the future of India’s defense production lies in Bihar. He stated that the mortars to be used against Pakistan in the future would be manufactured in Bihar’s ordnance factories, reflecting Modi’s vision of a defense corridor in the state.

He attacked the opposition, saying that the recent “Voter Rights Yatra” led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was not aimed at improving the lives of the poor, Dalits, and backward communities in Bihar but was instead meant to safeguard illegal infiltrators. Shah alleged that the opposition’s vote-bank politics has driven them to create a so-called “infiltrator corridor,” whereas Modi’s policies are focused on establishing an industrial and defense network in the state to generate employment and strengthen the economy.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of “vote theft” in the country, Shah questioned why the Congress leader had not filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission if he truly believed such claims. The Home Minister further stated that during the tenure of Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, and Lalu Prasad Yadav, terrorists freely carried out attacks within the country, whereas under Modi’s leadership, India now strikes terrorists inside their own territory.

Highlighting the ongoing development of the defense corridor in Sasaram, Shah said that any future terrorist attacks from Pakistan would be met with mortars manufactured in Bihar, symbolizing the state’s growing role in national security.

He also accused the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of trying to obstruct the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Referring to history, Shah said that the Mughal emperor Babur had demolished an ancient temple 550 years ago, but under Modi’s leadership, a grand temple has now been built at the same site.

Confident of the NDA’s victory, Shah claimed that the opposition alliance led by Lalu Prasad and his partners has already been wiped out in the first phase of polling. He urged voters to remain vigilant, warning that although the opposition may present a new face, their symbols and intentions remain unchanged.

Targeting the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist), Shah said that Modi’s leadership has nearly eradicated the problem of Naxalism. However, he cautioned that if the “red flag” supporters were given even a slight chance, Bihar could once again descend into chaos and violence.

Appealing to voters, Shah urged them to press the EVM button for the NDA candidates with such force that its echo reaches Italy. Drawing a comparison between RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Shah said that while Lalu had been convicted in several corruption cases including the fodder scam, Nitish Kumar has remained free of any corruption charges despite being in power for two decades.

Darbhanga, November 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to voters in Bihar to support the Bharatiya Janata Party by pressing the lotus symbol on EVMs, framing the choice as a way to prevent the return of what he described as the law-and-order breakdown under previous RJD rule. He addressed an election rally in Darbhanga, positioning the National Democratic Alliance as the vehicle for comprehensive development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

As per agency report, Shah announced that, if returned to power, the NDA government would allocate ₹26,000 crore to utilise Kosi river water for irrigation and flood control across Mithilanchal, and would also leverage the waters of the Ganga, Kosi and Gandak for agriculture and flood mitigation. He added that, with the NDA in office, residents of Mithila, Kosi and Tirhut would not need to travel to Patna or Delhi for treatment, citing plans for quality medical services at AIIMS-Darbhanga.

He highlighted social-welfare commitments, stating that around 3.60 crore people have received free health insurance coverage and that an IT park in Darbhanga is expected to create jobs for youth. He criticised an RJD complaint to the Election Commission regarding the rollback of a ₹10,000 benefit for “Jeevika Didis”, asserting that successive generations of the opposition would not be able to divert funds intended for self-help groups, and pledged that the government would deposit ₹2 lakh into the beneficiaries’ accounts over the next five years.

The Home Minister accused the RJD–Congress alliance of insulting the Chhath festival deity, Chhathi Maiya, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother, claiming voters would respond at the ballot box. He urged people to vote on November 6, describing the act not merely as electing an MLA or minister but as a decision to block the resurgence of “jungle raj”. Contrasting leadership styles, he alleged that the Lalu–Tejashwi combination is adept at misgovernance and plunder, while the Modi–Nitish partnership is focused on development.

Siwan (Bihar), Oct 24 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the “real Diwali” in Bihar will be celebrated on November 14, the day the results of the assembly elections are announced, predicting a crushing defeat for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its allies.

As per agency report, addressing a public rally in Siwan district, Shah launched a scathing attack on the RJD, accusing it of trying to bring back the era of “jungle raj.” He said the party’s decision to field Osama Shahab, son of slain RJD strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin, from the Raghunathpur constituency clearly reflected its intentions. Shah urged the people of Siwan to ensure Osama Shahab’s decisive defeat, reminding them of the two decades of lawlessness under the Lalu-Rabri regime. He said he was confident that on November 14, when the results are declared, the people of Bihar would celebrate “the real Diwali” as the RJD alliance would face an embarrassing loss.

The Home Minister also claimed that the opposition INDIA bloc had disintegrated completely in Bihar. Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Voter Rights Yatra,” Shah said that Gandhi wanted to allow infiltrators to stay in the country, but under the current government, not a single infiltrator would be allowed to remain in Bihar.

Highlighting the Modi government’s national security decisions, Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi demonstrated strong leadership by abrogating Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and launching Operation Sindoor to destroy terrorist bases across the border after the Pahalgam attack.

Continuing his attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Shah accused him of a series of corruption scandals including the fodder scam, land-for-jobs scam, and irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) recruitment. He said Lalu was also facing charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known income.

Addressing another rally in Buxar, Shah reiterated that by giving a ticket to Osama Shahab, Lalu Prasad had once again proven his intention to bring back the lawless era in Bihar. He contrasted the RJD’s candidate selection with that of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), saying while RJD gives tickets to relatives of criminals, the NDA fields candidates like former IPS officer Anand Mishra.

Praising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Modi, Shah said that Nitish had worked hard to bring Bihar back on track, while Modi had nurtured the state over the past decade. He concluded his speech by praying to “Chhathi Maiya” to bless the people of Bihar so that the days of “jungle raj” never return.

Rohtak, October 3. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Friday that while the Congress neglected Khadi after independence, the current government has revived it, leading to a remarkable increase in the turnover of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission from Rs 33,000 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 1.70 lakh crore at present. He was addressing the ‘Khadi Karigar Mahotsav’ in Rohtak, where he emphasized that the scale of Khadi’s business today surpasses that of many large companies.

As per agency report, Shah targeted the Congress for failing to focus on Khadi or promote it effectively after independence. He noted that the Narendra Modi government took several initiatives over the past 11 years to promote Khadi. According to him, if such steps had been taken soon after independence, India would not have faced the problem of unemployment. Recalling history, he said Mahatma Gandhi had used Khadi as a tool to fight poverty and promote self-reliance during the freedom movement. The programme, organised by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, carried the theme ‘From Swadeshi to Self-Reliance’. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was also present on the occasion. Additionally, modern machinery and tool kits were distributed, and Rs 301 crore was released as margin money under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

Rajkot, September 22 – Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Monday appealed to farmers to reduce their reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides and shift towards organic farming. He emphasized that the government is making arrangements to ensure greater benefits for farmers who adopt environment-friendly agricultural practices.

Shah, who also holds the Home Ministry portfolio, highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already provided a festive gift to farmers by reducing GST on equipment and items used in agriculture. The revised GST system now has only two slabs of 5 percent and 18 percent, effective from Monday, which coincided with the beginning of Navratri.

Addressing agricultural experts after attending the annual general meeting of seven cooperative organizations in Rajkot district, Shah said that India is working to bring a major share of the global organic products market to its farmers. He noted that organic farming avoids the use of synthetic inputs such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides, relying instead on natural resources like organic waste and beneficial microbes to boost productivity while conserving the environment and ecology.

Shah outlined several government initiatives to strengthen the cooperative movement. He mentioned the establishment of “Bharat Organics,” a brand under the National Cooperative Organics Limited, aimed at ensuring better returns for farmers selling organic produce. A cooperative society has been set up to procure and market organic products, while a new export and seed cooperative committee has also been established.

He further informed that the Tribhuvandas Patel Cooperative University has been set up in Anand, Gujarat, to provide education in all areas of the cooperative sector. In the past three years, the Ministry of Cooperation has introduced 60 initiatives, including measures to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), their computerization, and new steps for establishing warehouses for cooperative unions. According to Shah, these efforts have stabilized the cooperative structure, which had been in decline for four decades, and strengthened it by 12 percent over the last two years.

New cooperative societies, dairy unions, and milk processing committees have also emerged nationwide, ensuring better income for farmers. A computerized system has been introduced in Gujarat to further streamline benefits for cooperative members. Under the “Cooperation Among Cooperatives” initiative, a pilot project started in Banaskantha and Panchmahal districts is now being extended across the state.

Earlier in the day, Shah laid the foundation stone for the ISKCON Varachha temple at Kosmada in Surat district, to be built over an area of 3.51 lakh square feet at a cost of Rs 101 crore.

Over the past 11 years, India has significantly expanded its mobile network and improved internet accessibility in rural areas. The government’s initiatives have focused on building a robust digital infrastructure and enhancing digital skills across the population, laying the groundwork for a technology-driven future.

The number of internet connections in India surged from 251.5 million in March 2014 to nearly 969.6 million by June 2024. Additionally, the total amount transferred through Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) crossed ₹44 lakh crore as of May 2025, showcasing the scale and impact of digital integration in governance.

The government reiterated its commitment to furthering India's digital journey, ensuring that technology continues to serve as the backbone of a modern and inclusive economy.

New Delhi, May 14 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hailed a major success in the country’s anti-Naxal campaign, declaring that the elimination of 31 notorious Naxals on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border marks a historic step toward achieving a Naxal-free India. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely eradicating left-wing extremism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

As per agency report, Shah stated that the recent operation in the Karregutta hills resulted in one of the largest setbacks to Naxal insurgency in Indian history. The operation, carried out over 21 days by security forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), State Task Force (STF), and District Reserve Guard (DRG), neutralized high-ranking cadres of major Naxalite groups such as the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion No. 1, the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC), the Telangana State Committee (TSC), and the Central Regional Committee (CRC).

The Karregutta region, once considered a stronghold of Naxal dominance, was used by insurgents as a centralized base for training, tactical planning, and arms development. The Home Minister emphasized that these hills, which once symbolized fear and insurgency, now proudly display the Indian tricolor.

What makes this operation even more notable, Shah pointed out, is that not a single jawan was injured or killed despite the difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Commending the bravery and dedication of the forces involved, he extended his congratulations to the personnel of CRPF, STF, and DRG for their exceptional courage.

Amit Shah assured the nation that the government is steadfast in its resolve to root out Naxalism entirely and confidently predicted that by March 31, 2026, India will be completely free from the menace of left-wing extremism.
