He was flown from Punjab's Bathinda air base to Dibrugarh's Mohanbari airport under tight security.

A team of Punjab Police and National Security Agency (NSA) officials arrived in Dibrugarh with the Waris Punjab De chief. A huge team of Assam Police personnel was present at the Mohanbari airport.

The Assam Police have however, refused to issue any official statement on Amritpal's arrival in Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, the security cover outside the central jail was beefed up.

Already, a multi-tier security arrangement was in place, but more security personnel were deployed on Sunday.

The general public were not allowed to go near the jail.

Nine other aides of Amritpal Singh, including his close aide Papalpreet and uncle Harjit Singh, have been lodged in the Dibrugarh central jail since last month.

The 30-year-old Waris Punjab De chief who had been on the run since March 18, was arrested on Sunday morning from Rode in Moga district -- the native village of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was killed in the Indian Army's Operation Blue Star in 1984.

Amritpal shot to prominence in February after an armed mob led by him clashed with police and laid siege to a police station near Amritsar, demanding the release of one of their colleagues who had been taken into custody in an alleged kidnapping case.

Six policemen were injured in the bloody clash.

Bakshi has filed a case in this connection at the Lajpat Nagar police station.

The Sikh leader had tweeted against Khalistani operatives, stating that Indian Sikhs will always be with India.

"I feel those tweets didn't go down well with the separatist elements, as I do not subscribe to their agendas. I got a threatening phone call from an international number (+1-412-557-8773). The caller identified himself as Amritpal Singh and then started threatening me," Bakshi said.

Bakshi has alleged in the complaint that 'Amritpal Singh' asked him to stay away from anti-Khalistani activities or they would kill him.

"He threatened me that my act was against them and being a traitor of Sikhs will cost me dearly. Considering that I am a Sikh who is constantly raising his voice against anti-national Khalistani elements in various fora, I request that adequate protection be given to me," Bakshi wrote in his complaint.

The police are looking into the matter after recording Bakshi's statement.

The Assam Police is yet to issue an official statement regarding the latest associate's identity.

Earlier, the seven other associates, including Amritpal's uncle Harjit Singh, were brought to the Dibrugarh jail in the past one week.

"People are telling me, you have done a good job. There should be peace and harmony in Punjab. In this matter, we will support you," he said in a video message.

On Monday, the the police invoked the NSA against five people linked to the 'Waris Punjab De'.

Although seven individuals accompanying him were detained, Amritpal Singh, the leader of 'Waris Punjab De,' managed to escape by switching vehicles during the pursuit. The number of arrested individuals linked to Amritpal Singh has risen to 78.

Some police officials have reported that Amritpal Singh has been located in Sarih village in Nakodar tehsil, Jalandhar district, where he was persuaded to surrender. A house-to-house search operation is ongoing, with central paramilitary forces involved in the search.

Internet services across Punjab have been suspended as a precautionary measure, and supporters of Amritpal Singh have shared videos of the police chase in Moga district. In anticipation of possible unrest, a large paramilitary force was deployed near his native village, Jallupur Khaira, in Amritsar district.

A special police team from seven districts trailed Amritpal Singh's convoy while he was en route to Jalandhar's Shahkot tehsil. Despite closing in on his vehicles multiple times, Amritpal Singh managed to escape. Section 144 has been imposed in numerous districts across the state, and security has been heightened. Vehicle checks are being conducted at the Punjab-Haryana border.

Amritpal Singh, a 30-year-old pro-Khalistan propagator, faces three pending cases, including two for delivering hate speeches. He has been compared to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale due to his appearance and attire.

Previously, on February 23, an armed mob led by Amritpal Singh clashed with police near Amritsar, demanding the release of a colleague arrested in an alleged kidnapping case. Six officers were injured in the confrontation.

As the internet suspension continues, Punjab Police urge residents to maintain peace and avoid spreading panic, fake news, or hate speech. Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu commented on Amritpal Singh's evasion, criticizing him for running away from the police.
