A court in Gujarat has handed down a 20-year prison sentence and imposed a fine of INR 5,000 on an individual accused of kidnapping and raping a young girl from Solsumba village, Umargam. The accused, a father of two, has also been ordered to pay INR 5 lakh in compensation to the victim.

The incident occurred in 2021 when the girl, identified as Suniti (name changed), went missing under mysterious circumstances after leaving for tuition on November 24th. Despite extensive searches by her family and community members, she could not be found, prompting the police to register a kidnapping case. During the investigation, the police discovered Suniti with the accused, Rahul Kumar Premsingh.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused lured Suniti into a love trap and engaged in a physical relationship with her, despite being a father of two children. The police subsequently arrested the accused and filed a charge sheet in court.

During the court hearing, DGP Anil Tripathi presented evidence, including witness statements and medical reports. Court judge K.J. Modi delivered the verdict, sentencing the accused to 20 years in prison and ordering him to pay a fine of INR 5,000, as well as INR 5 lakh in compensation to the victim.
