Mumbai, April 1 — Adani Airport Holdings has announced the launch of India's first 'in-terminal' quick commerce service in partnership with Blinkit at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

This service has currently started in the domestic departure area of Terminal-2, providing app-based delivery directly within the airport.

Passengers can order the items they need through the Blinkit app. The goods will be delivered directly to the passenger's location at various points within the airport, including boarding gates, lounges, food courts, and select centers.

A spokesperson for Adani Airport Holdings Limited stated that the app-based service within the terminal will allow passengers to make better use of their time and improve the overall level of services. This initiative aims to make airports more sensitive and focused on the needs of passengers.

The service covers travel-related items, electronic devices, food and beverages, books, childcare products, and other personal necessities.

In compliance with security regulations, liquids such as packaged water and cold beverages will be provided from approved stocks within the airport.

This initiative by Blinkit aims to bring quick commerce services to a busy location where consumer demand and needs are high. It will assist in expanding online services and reaching new customers.

Bhavnagar, August 3 — Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Sunday that India's first bullet train service between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is set to launch soon, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities to just 2 hours and 7 minutes.

Speaking at Bhavnagar Terminus, where he flagged off the Ayodhya Express, Rewa-Pune Express, and Jabalpur-Raipur Express digitally, the minister highlighted the rapid progress of the high-speed rail project. The event also saw the participation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who jointly inaugurated the train services.

Vaishnaw stated, “The first bullet train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will begin operations very soon. Work on the project is progressing rapidly, and once operational, the journey between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will take only 2 hours and 7 minutes.”

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will cover a total distance of 508 kilometers, connecting Maharashtra and Gujarat. Starting from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai, the train will run at a speed of 320 km/h and stop at key stations including Vapi, Surat, Anand, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

Mumbai, 23 June – A fire broke out on Monday morning at the set of the popular Hindi television serial ‘Anupamaa’ located in Mumbai’s Film City. As per agency report, officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. The fire was brought under control approximately four hours after it began.

The blaze was reported around 6:10 a.m. in Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, situated in the Goregaon East area of the city. Initially, the BMC had indicated that the fire may have occurred at a different set, but it was later confirmed that the flames originated from the set of ‘Anupamaa,’ where actress Rupali Ganguly plays the lead role.

According to the fire department, the fire affected an area of roughly 5,000 square feet within the studio. The damage was largely contained to electrical wiring, plastic and iron materials, decorative props, cameras, costumes, lighting systems, and other studio equipment.

In response to the emergency, four fire engines and four water tankers were dispatched to the site. The firefighting team included an assistant divisional fire officer and three station officers, who coordinated the operation.

By 10:15 a.m., the fire was successfully extinguished. However, the exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The incident highlights the need for stringent safety measures on television and film sets, especially in high-density production zones like Mumbai’s Film City.

Mumbai, May 23: In light of repeated security breaches and ongoing threats to actor Salman Khan, the Mumbai Police is planning to introduce stricter identity verification protocols for visitors entering Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where the Bollywood star resides. As per agency report, this move comes after multiple instances of unauthorized entries into the building, raising serious concerns about the safety of its residents.

Galaxy Apartments has been under heightened scrutiny since Salman Khan was placed under Y-plus category security following persistent threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s network. Earlier this week, police arrested two individuals—a man named Jitendra Singh and a woman named Isha Chhabria—for allegedly attempting to enter the premises without authorization.

A senior police official stated that regulating visitor access to a private residential building like Galaxy Apartments poses challenges, but the situation now requires enhanced vigilance. One of the proposed measures involves requiring new visitors to verify their identity through confirmation from residents of the building.

The threats to Salman Khan have been ongoing. In April last year, alleged members of the Bishnoi gang opened fire outside the apartment building. In another incident last December, a man infiltrated a film set and reportedly threatened Salman’s bodyguard using Lawrence Bishnoi’s name.

Authorities have also registered cases at Worli Police Station after threatening messages were sent via the city traffic police's WhatsApp helpline, including extortion demands under Bishnoi’s name. These developments prompted police to interrogate Lawrence Bishnoi directly as part of their investigation into the threats.

In a related case, the Mumbai Police charge sheet in the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique noted that the killing was allegedly ordered by Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence’s brother, due to Siddique’s close ties with Salman Khan. The actor and his father, veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan, had also received a death threat letter in 2022, which led to a further tightening of their security arrangements.

Mumbai, May 12 — The Bombay High Court has upheld a compensation order of Rs 62 lakh in favor of the family of Charu Khandal, an animator employed with actor Shah Rukh Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment. Khandal had sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident and later succumbed to her injuries in 2017.

As per agency report, the division bench comprising Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Advait Sethna observed that while awarding complete compensation may not always be possible, granting fair compensation should be the norm. The court cited that the Motor Vehicles Act is a welfare legislation and any decision should respect the fundamental rights of citizens, including the right to live with dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution.

The court dismissed the appeal filed by Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Limited, which had challenged the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal’s (MACT) 2020 decision to award the compensation. The judges ruled that there was no error or irregularity in the tribunal’s verdict, and therefore the order needed no interference.

Charu Khandal, aged 28 at the time of the accident in 2012, had been returning home from a celebration party organized after winning an award for her VFX work on the film “Ra.One.” The autorickshaw she was travelling in was hit by a speeding car, leaving her paralyzed. Despite battling for years, she passed away in 2017.

Following the accident, her family filed a compensation claim before the MACT in June 2014. In November 2020, the tribunal awarded them Rs 62 lakh, taking into account her age, earning capacity, and the circumstances surrounding the case.

The High Court reaffirmed the principle that while no amount of money can compensate for the loss of life, monetary support should be provided wherever feasible to address the damages suffered. The court emphasized that such compensation aligns with constitutional values and legal obligations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Mumbai, May 11 — The Bombay High Court has reiterated that bail should be treated as a rule and its denial as an exception, stating that holding an accused in custody for a long time without trial is akin to imposing punishment before conviction.

Justice Milind Jadhav made these observations while granting bail to Vikas Patil, who was arrested in 2018 for allegedly murdering his brother. The court noted the severe overcrowding in Maharashtra’s prisons and emphasized the need for courts to strike a balance in such situations.

Justice Jadhav highlighted that trials are significantly delayed, and many undertrial prisoners remain in custody for years. He cited a December 2024 report from the superintendent of Arthur Road Jail, revealing that the prison holds six times more inmates than its sanctioned capacity.

“The legal limit for each barrack is 50 prisoners, yet there are currently 220–250 inmates per barrack,” the judge noted. He questioned how courts can maintain a fair balance between public interest and personal liberty in such circumstances.

The court stated that prolonged incarceration of undertrial prisoners directly affects their fundamental rights to a fair trial and personal freedom. Justice Jadhav stressed that although long incarceration alone isn't an automatic ground for bail, it is a serious factor that must be considered in light of the right to a speedy trial.

Referring to the essay "Proof of Guilt" written by two undertrial inmates, the court acknowledged the urgent need to address delays in justice delivery and ensure that the constitutional rights of accused individuals are not violated through indefinite detention.

Justice Jadhav concluded, “Bail is the norm. Denial must remain the exception.”

New Delhi, May 1 — A Delhi court has granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) permission to collect voice and handwriting samples of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, one of the key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The development marks a significant step forward in the ongoing investigation into one of India’s deadliest terror incidents.

According to a source familiar with the proceedings, Special NIA Judge Chander Jeet Singh passed the order on April 30 following a formal request by the agency. Earlier, on April 28, the court had extended Rana’s custody by 12 days, allowing the agency further time to investigate.

Rana, a U.S. citizen, was recently extradited to India after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his plea challenging the extradition order on April 4. He is considered a close associate of David Coleman Headley, also known as Daood Gilani, one of the main conspirators behind the attacks.

As per agency report, Rana is alleged to have played a role in facilitating logistical support to the attackers. The NIA believes that the voice and handwriting samples will be critical in corroborating evidence collected during the investigation.

The 26/11 Mumbai attacks, which began on November 26, 2008, involved ten heavily armed Pakistani terrorists who entered Mumbai via sea routes. They targeted multiple locations including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Taj Mahal and Oberoi Trident hotels, and the Jewish center Nariman House.

Surat, April 25 – The fifth edition of the FAB Show 2025, organized by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), concluded with remarkable success at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. Mumbai, April 25 – The Bombay High Court on Friday ruled that the police investigation into stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra can continue over his alleged “traitor” remark against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. However, the court directed that Kamra should not be arrested during the pendency of the case.

A division bench comprising Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice S M Modak accepted Kamra’s plea seeking the quashing of the FIR filed at Khar police station over remarks made during a comedy performance in Mumbai. The court clarified that while detailed hearings on the plea would follow, Kamra would be protected from arrest in the interim.

As per agency report, the bench stated that if the police wished to record Kamra’s statement, they should do so in Chennai, where the comedian currently resides, and only after giving prior notice. Kamra had expressed reluctance to travel to Maharashtra due to threats he received after the FIR was registered.

The court further ordered that if the police decide to file a chargesheet while the petition remains pending, the trial court should not take further action on it until the high court’s decision.

Kamra’s legal team had requested protection from any coercive action, including arrest, seizure of electronic devices, and investigation into his financial transactions. Kamra also offered to cooperate with the investigation via video conferencing, citing ongoing threats to his safety.

The FIR was registered after Kamra allegedly referred to Shinde as a "traitor" during a comedy show in Mumbai. The remarks, delivered as part of a parody of a song from the Bollywood film Dil To Pagal Hai, referenced Shinde’s 2022 political rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray, which led to the split of the Shiv Sena party.

Following the controversy, workers from Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction allegedly vandalized the studio where the show had been recorded.

The high court’s order provides Kamra with temporary relief while allowing the investigation to proceed, balancing both the comedian’s concerns and the state’s interest in probing the matter.
