Noida, Jan 21 (IANS) From an actress, to an entrepreneur and now a restaurateur, Sunny Leone has added many feathers to her cap.

It was a glittery affair on Saturday night, when Sunny launched her very first restaurant in Noida, called ChicaLoca, the two floored restaurant gives a glimpse of the actress’s fabulous life.

The 42-year-old star, who was accompanied by her husband Daniel Weber at the launch, already has a beauty line.

What other ideas are in her mind?

Sunny told IANS: “To conquer the world.”

The actress then went on to say that she wants to create more ideas.

“On a serious note, I think is to find appropriate businesses to invest in or create and really create ideas.”

The actress feels that entertainers should not limit themselves and instead branch out to expand their brand value.

“I think entertainers should not just stop at films and TV shows. We should definitely venture out and try new things so that we can expand our brand in many different ways,” said Sunny.

Mumbai, Oct 5 (IANS) Actress Sunny Leone will be seen in the recreated version of 'Mera Piya Ghar Aaya 2.0' which is originally picturised on Madhuri Dixit Nene in the 1995 blockbuster movie 'Yaarana'.

A source had earlier revealed that Sunny was practising hard to recreate a renowned dance number that the iconic Madhuri had once performed.

The teaser of the track ‘Mera Piya Ghar Aaya 2.0' was unveiled on Thursday and the song will be released on October 8.  

Neeti Mohan has sung the song. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly recreated this dance number, which combines the sensuous charm of Madhuri with the timeless music of Anu Malik and originally choreographed by the renowned choreographer Saroj Khan.

Sunny's choice to perform on this legendary number not only pays homage to Madhuri but also promises to be a visual treat for fans. 

The track was originally sung Kavita Krishnamurthy and the music was given by Anu Malik.

Mumbai, June 21 (IANS) Actress Sunny Leone, who recently made waves at the Cannes Film Festival with the premiere of her upcoming film 'Kennedy', has opened up about her Yoga routine on the International Day of Yoga on Wednesday.

She said that she likes to include Yoga in her fitness programme as it helps to cleanse the body of all the harmful toxins.

The actress, who started her journey in Indian showbiz after appearing on 'Bigg Boss' Season 5, spoke about her Yoga routine, as she said, "Whenever I do yoga, I opt for Hot yoga. The reason I love hot yoga is because it releases toxins from almost every organ in my body on top of strengthening and toning my muscles".

She also shared her opinion about mindfulness which is closely linked with Yoga, and how it's important in current times, "In current times being mindful is so important not just for ourselves but being mindful for everything and everyone around us".

Meanwhile, on the work front Sunny will be soon seen in 'Kennedy' which has been directed by the poster boy of Indian noir - Anurag Kashyap. She will share the screen with Rahul Bhat and Abhilash Thapliyal in the film.

Cannes, May 25 (IANS) In a candid interview with 'Deadline' at Cannes, Sunny Leone talked about how one call from 'Bigg Boss' enabled her to transition from an adult film star of some 12 year's standing (2001-13) to a mainstream film star with 30 projects behind her, walking the red carpet of the world's most prestigious film festival.

In Cannes for the world premiere of Anurag Kashyap's cop noir movie 'Kennedy' in the Midnight Section, Leone told 'Deadline' how 'Bigg Boss' executives relentlessly pursued her. They even sent the Canadian Indian actress a powerpoint presentation to convince her to come on board.

She remembered telling her then boyfriend, now husband, who urged her to commit: "'You're out of your mind -- I'm not going to India, they'll hate me.' I've already gone through so much hate in that community."

Sitting in Cannes, the actress recalled the hurdles she had to overcome to be on the show 'Bigg Boss 5, 2011-12, with Sanjay Dutta and Salman Khan). "There were death threats and bomb threats," Leone, who was the Penthouse Pet of the Month in 2003, said.

On being able to transcend her previous image, Leone told 'Deadline' that 'Big Boss' enabled her to build a humanity with viewers.

"I think people related to me -- I was human, and not jumping on tables and doing all sorts of crazy stuff," Leone said. "They related with me as a person, cooking, cleaning ... that's what they connected with. People connected with that girl on 'Big Boss' and disconnected with Sunny Leone from the adult entertainment industry."

'Kennedy', Anurag Kashyap's fifth film in Cannes, stars Rahul Bhat (previously seen in Kashyap's 'Ugly' and 'Dobaaraa') as an insomniac ex-cop, who dwells in different circumstances looking for redemption. The ex-cop, who is presumed dead for a long time, operates secretly for the corrupt system. Leone plays a laughing femme fatale in his life, notes 'Deadline'.

Mumbai, April 13 (IANS) Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is known for creating the modern day classic 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'Ugly', 'Gulaal' and 'No Smoking', is once again set to visit the French Riviera as his next film 'Kennedy' starring Sunny Leone has been selected for the Cannes Film Festival.

The festival's Twitter handle made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. They tweeted: "KENNEDY by Anurag KASHYAP #SeanceDeMinuit / #MidnightScreenings #Cannes2023." The film will be a part of the midnight screening section. Kashyap has been a regular at Cannes.

While his magnum opus 'Gangs of Wasseypur' was screened at the 2012 Cannes Directors' Fortnight, an independent selection of the Cannes Film Festival, the anthology film 'Bombay Talkies', on which he served as one of the directors, premiered under Special Screenings at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. 'Ugly' released a year after 'GoW' and was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival where it also received a standing ovation. His 'Raman Raghav 2.0' also premiered in the Director's Fortnight section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Talking about the film festival, which is set to be held from May 16, it will showcase films by Wes Anderson, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Wim Wenders, Ken Loach, Todd Haynes and Steve McQueen. Maiwenn's Jeanne du Barry, starring the director opposite Johnny Depp, will open the festival on May 16.

The Cannes Film Festival is considered to be one of the most prestigious film festivals across the world and is part of the Big 3 European film festivals besides Venice Film Festival and the Berlinale.

Mumbai: Actress Sunny Leone is set for an elaborate US Tour starting on Saturday. The tour will see NRI fans of the actress. As per her current schedule, Sunny will be making public appearances in Austin on March 11, in Dallas on March 12, in Houston on March 17 and 18 followed by Chicago on March 19.

With the current venues already booked out, the organisers are looking at adding a few more cities. Talking about the tour, Sunny said: "Being in the US has always been a joy for me. I get to interact with very different sorts of people on these tours."

She further mentioned: "The US also has a diverse culture so I get to meet people from different walks of life. It is endearing to see the kind of love they shower on me. It humbles me, it pumps me to work harder."

Sunny, who started her film journey in India after appearing in the season 5 of the reality show 'Bigg Boss', is known for her dance and work in films such as 'Hate Story 2', 'Shootout at Wadala' and 'Raees'.

Kochi, March 9 (IANS) The Kerala High Court on Thursday said that it is inclined to quash criminal proceedings against actress Sunny Leone, her husband Daniel Weber, and her employee in a cheating case registered against them.

It orally remarked that there seemed to be no criminal offence made out against Sunny and that she was being unnecessarily harassed.

"What is the criminal offense in this? You are unnecessarily harassing the person (Sunny). I am inclined to quash this," the bench remarked.

The court eventually posted the case for March 31 after stating that the probe can continue.

On November 16, 2022, the court had stayed criminal proceedings against three following a case registered against them for cheating on a complaint by a Kerala-based event manager, who alleged that Sunny, despite being paid lakhs of rupees to appear and perform in events, did not show up.

Sunny and the others moved the High Court claiming they are innocent and that even if the allegations are taken at face value, the offences alleged would not be attracted.

Their plea said the complainant has not faced any losses due to the petitioners but the petitioners' lives are being adversely affected by the case.

The plea also pointed out that the complainant had also moved a civil suit with the same allegations but it was dismissed by a magistrate's court in July 2022 for want of evidence.

Therefore, they moved the High Court seeking quashing of the proceedings against them.
