Himmatnagar, Aug 15 (IANS) Gujarat police have registered a complaint against four individuals for providing false affidavits, falsely stating the loss of their passports.

Police said that the passports were actually handed over to an unauthorised travel agent for illegal migration to the US.

Nareshbhai Ghanshyambhai Patel, a Himmatnagar resident, lodged the complaint. He initially reported the passports of six family members as lost, supposedly during a house cleaning activity a week prior.

Subsequent investigation uncovered that eight months ago, Naresh Patel had handed his passport to an unauthorised agent in Gandhinagar for an illicit travel attempt to the USA. Naresh Patel then filed a misleading affidavit, wrongly claiming passport loss.

Further inquiries disclosed that the passports were entrusted to Rajan Patel in Gandhinagar for unlawful travel. Those involved in the deceptive affidavit include Naresh Ghanshyambhai Patel, Kinjalben Ghanshyambhai Patel, Nitinkumar Ghanshyambhai Patel, Bhumiben Nitinkumar Patel. There are speculations of six more people in this matter.

The police have registered a case against the accused parties and initiated legal proceedings accordingly.

Himmatnagar (Gujarat), July 18 (IANS) A woman and her daughter lost their lives when a ceiling fan, along with part of the roof, suddenly fell on them while they were asleep at their home here. The incident took place late on Monday night.

The police reached the scene and a case of accidental death was registered. On Tuesday morning the postmortem of the deceased was conducted at Himmatnagar Civil Hospital. Additionally, an officer from the Forensic Science Laboratory also arrived at the accident site for further necessary procedures.

The incident took place at the residence of Mumtazbanu, located opposite Sarvodaya Society in the Himmatnagar Polo Ground area. On Monday night, around 11 o'clock, Mumtazbanu and her daughter Busrabibi were sleeping with the fan turned on when the tragedy struck. Without warning, the fan and the roof gave way, falling on them. 

The noise alerted the neighbours, who rushed to the scene. The victims were extricated from the debris and taken to the nearby Fatema Hospital.

 From there, they were transferred to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital. Despite the medical team's best efforts, both the mother and daughter were pronounced dead by the attending physician. 

Himmatnagar / Ahmedabad, May 5 (Hindustan Times) - Nirma Bhagora, a talented young athlete from the tribal community of Sabarkantha district, has made her district and state proud by securing a silver medal in the long jump event at the Under-20 Athletics Championship of the National Federation Cup held in Karnataka.

Bhagora, who hails from Vijayanagar in Sabarkantha district along the Gujarat border, achieved a remarkable jump of 5.88 meters in the long jump event during the 21st National Federation Cup. For the past two years, she has been receiving specialized training at the Himmatnagar Sports Complex. Coming from a family engaged in agriculture and labor, Nirma has been determined to excel in both her studies and sports.

In an expression of gratitude for her achievement, Nirma credited the Himmatnagar Sports Complex for playing a significant role in her victory. She also won a gold medal in 2019 and aspires to represent India in the Olympic Games, with the goal of winning a medal for her country.

Sanjay Yadav, a coach at the Himmatnagar Sports Complex, spoke highly of Nirma Bhagora's performance in the long jump event, representing Gujarat. He praised her dedication to practice and acknowledged her past successes in winning multiple medals.

Himmatnagar (Gujarat), March 9 (IANS) An IAS officer was held hostage for hours and thrashed by a group of fishermen here, said the police on Thursday.

The incident happened on March 4 evening, and a late night complaint was lodged against 17 persons. Of these three have been arrested and search for the rest was going on, said police.

According to the criminal complaint filed with the Vadali police station, Dinesh Natwarlal, a fisheries officer, stated, "Fisheries Director Nitin Sangwan led a team for a surprise inspection at Dharoi dam water reservoirs, where fishermen are licensed to carry out fishing activities. Fearing an action for illegal activities, a group led by Babubhai Parmar, Dilip Parmar, and 15 others attacked Nitin Sangwan and gheraoed the team; one of them bit Nitin Sangwan on his right leg near his knee."

In the complaint, the officer has further stated, "The group had a heated argument with the officer, thrashed him, and forced him to give an assurance in writing; that issue with Babubhai and others is sorted out, and Nitin Sangwan will not file any criminal complaint against them. Till the IAS officer did not give it in writing, he was not released."

Sabarkantha police swung into action and arrested three accused -- Babubhai, Dilipbhai, and Vishnu Parmar -- on Sunday, and the search for the rest of the accused was going on, said an officer.
