Bhavnagar, Gujarat, December 17 – A tragic road accident claimed six lives and left around 10 others injured when a private bus collided with a dumper truck on a highway near Bhavnagar district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at around 6 a.m. near Trapaj village as the bus was traveling from Bhavnagar to Mahuva, according to Superintendent of Police Harshad Patel.

Details of the Accident
The bus reportedly rammed into the dumper truck from behind, causing significant damage to the front-right section of the bus.The collision was so severe that the impact completely destroyed the bus's front portion.

Casualties and Injuries
Six people died on the spot, while 8-10 passengers sustained injuries. The injured individuals were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

Response and Investigation

Local authorities and emerency teams responded swiftly to the incident, clearing the debris and transporting the injured to safety. Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the collision.

Bhavnagar / Ahmedabad, 26 April – The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is making progress in its probe into the Bhavnagar dummy scandal, which involves the use of dummy candidates in competitive examinations for government jobs. On Wednesday, authorities arrested the son of a Talaja Tehsil Panchayat member, following the arrest of the son of Bhalar village's Sarpanch on Tuesday. With political figures involved, the case has gained increasing attention.

To date, 23 people have been arrested in connection with the scandal. After the arrest of the Talaja Tehsil Panchayat member's son, police are now interrogating him. On Tuesday, Chandradeep Chauhan, son of Tehsil Panchayat member Bharat Chauhan and the Sarpanch of Bhalar village, was also detained. Chandradeep is accused of using a dummy candidate in the MPHW exam in 2022. Bhavnagar's Superintendent of Police has assigned Deputy Superintendent of Police RR Singhal to lead the SIT investigation.

Meanwhile, Ghanshyam Ladhwani, another individual arrested in the case, has been hospitalized in Bhavnagar city due to high blood pressure. After being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he was moved to the Prisoner Ward when his condition improved.

In a related development, police will seek the remand of Yuvraj Singh's second brother-in-law, who is accused of demanding a ransom of ₹1 crore in exchange for not disclosing the names of two suspects in the Bhavnagar dummy case. Police have so far seized ₹73.5 lakh from the accused, with ₹25.50 lakh recovered from Shivubha's friend's house and ₹38 lakh from Yuvraj's first brother-in-law Kanbha's residence. The accused had hidden the money at various friends' homes for two years. Shivubha Gohil, Yuvraj's brother-in-law, surrendered at Bhavnagar Neelambagh police station.

Bhavnagar (Gujarat), April 5 (IANS) Three persons have been arrested here in Gujarat in connection with a paper leak case wherein the question paper of B.Com was leaked on social media hours before the commencement of the exam, the police said on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Amit Galani, Ajay Ladumor and Vivek Makwana.

Galani is the principal in-charge of G.L. Kakadia College of Commerce and Management, while Ladumor and Makwana are students of the college.

The arrests were made after a complaint was filed by Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University registrar Kaushik Bhatt, and an FIR was registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 406, 409, 120B, 114, and 34 and Information Technology Act's sections 72 and 72A.

The accused have been charged with criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, breach of confidentiality and privacy, among other charges.

According to the FIR, Galani had torn open a packet of question papers hours before the exam was scheduled to begin, and clicked photos of the questions on his mobile phone.

He then handed his phone over to Srushti Borda, a B.Com student, who asked Vivek Makwana to click photos of the question papers from Galani's phone.

The investigation revealed that Borda wanted to send a copy of the question paper to her friend Ladumor.

However, the paper started circulating on social media after Makwana shared photos of the question paper he had clicked from the principal's phone with his friends.

"We arrested them at 6 p.m. on Tuesday after their reports for Covid-19 tests returned negative. We shall present them before a magistrate," Police Inspector P.D. Parma said.

A truck carrying laborers overturned near Mevasa village in Valabhipur taluka of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, resulting in the death of 7 people and leaving many others injured. The accident occurred when the truck's tire burst, and over 12 laborers are feared to be buried under the vehicle. The highway experienced a traffic jam due to the gathering of people at the accident site.

Emergency services and local police have arrived at the scene to assist with rescue efforts. Six individuals died on the spot, while one succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The truck was reportedly transporting the laborers from Mewasa village to Valabhipur when the tire burst, causing the devastating accident.

Bhavnagar (Saurashtra), March 7 (IANS) Three students were electrocuted to death at Katakda village in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district after they reportedly came in contact with a live wire while returning home from school.

Bhayabha Jambucha, a resident of the village, told mediapersons that he was informed by a villager that his nephew Naitik (12) got injured, so he rushed to the other side of the village. On reaching the spot, he found the three children lying on the ground. They were rushed to the nearby government hospital, where the doctor declared them brought dead.

Along with Naitak, his younger sisters, Priyanka (10) and Komal Chauhan (12), died in the accident, Jambucha said.

Jambucha said it is difficult to say whether the live wire was part of the farm fence or of the grid line of Gujarat Paschim Vij Company Ltd, a state government-owned power distribution company.

The police have registered a case of accidental death, and sent bodies for postmortem.
