Mumbai, August 8 – A second firing incident in less than a month at comedian Kapil Sharma’s ‘Caps Café’ in Surrey, Canada, has raised serious concerns, prompting Mumbai Police to consider providing him with security. The latest incident occurred on August 7, with the responsibility claimed by the Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to a senior Mumbai Police official, security could be extended to Sharma if necessary. A viral social media post claimed that the attack was carried out by the gang, stating that they had called Sharma but received no response, leading to the action. The post also warned that if he still did not comply, the next attack would take place in Mumbai. As per agency report, this direct threat has heightened police concerns.

Following the first firing incident, the Mumbai Crime Branch had questioned Sharma to determine if he had received any threats or extortion calls from the gang, to which he had responded in the negative. In light of the second attack, the Crime Branch is set to question him again, focusing on the recent social media post and investigating whether gang members conducted surveillance near Sharma’s home or shooting locations.

In July, the first firing at Sharma’s Surrey café was carried out by Harjit Singh of Babbar Khalsa, who fired nine rounds. Harjit had claimed the attack was in retaliation for remarks made on Sharma’s television show about the attire of Nihang Sikhs.

The latest shooting took place at around 2 am on Thursday, when the café was closed, and no injuries were reported. Surrey Police examined the scene, but Sharma has not yet issued any statement on the matter.

Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS) India’s top-rated comedians Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover are reuniting for a streaming comedy special.

The makers of the show dropped a video on Saturday in which the two can be seen with their arms around each other’s neck as they tell the viewers that they are joining forces for a web special.

The other members of the OG gang like Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and Rajiv Thakur, also make an appearance in the video.

In the video, Kapil says, "Hi friends, this is Kapil Sharma and I am soon coming with a show.” Sunil Grover adds the same and Kapil says, "Let's go together”.

Sunil Grover, who became a household name after playing his popular fictional characters Gutthi and Dr Mashoor Gulati on The Kapil Sharma Show, shocked everyone when he quit ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ in 2018 after his major fallout with Kapil Sharma.

The two actor-comedians had a fallout in a flight when they were flying back to Mumbai after wrapping up a show in Australia.

Mumbai, Sep 27 (IANS) Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has shared a picture posing with “beautiful people” Sushmita Sen, Anurag Kashyap and Mahima Chaudhry in a flight.

Kapil took to Instagram, where he shared a picture posing with the three cinema personalities.

In the image, the four are seen posing for a selfie. They are seen looking into a camera and smiling.

On the work front, Kapil will be seen making a special appearance in ‘The Crew’, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon. 

The story follows three women who work and hustle to move on with life. But as they try to make their way forward, their destinies lead them to some unexpected and unwarranted situations, leading them to get caught in a web of lies.

The film, directed by Rajesh Krishnan and co-produced by Balaji Motion Pictures Limited and Anil Kapoor Productions, is set to go on floors by the end of March 2023.

New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) Actor Sunny Deol who is all geared up for the release of 'Gadar 2', has opened up on the emotions that he felt while filming the most iconic 'handpump' scene in the first instalment of the movie.

Sunny along with his co-star Ameesha Patel will be seen promoting their upcoming sequel to 2001 romantic period action drama 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha', on the comedy show 'The Kapil Sharma Show'.

One of Bollywood's most iconic scenes is the 'handpump scene' in the first edition of 'Gadar' where Sunny uproots a hand pump in anger during a face-off with Amrish Puri. 

Shedding some light on the emotions that he felt while bringing this scene to life, Sunny shared, "It's not about a person uprooting a hand pump; it's about an emotional journey where one finds strength in the love and support of his family."

"When a person is emotionally trapped, surrounded by his family on all sides, he would take such a step to save his children and wife from a difficult situation. In those moments, the divine essence of Waheguru dwells within us, guiding our actions. And that's how the scene came into the picture and became an audience-adored scene of all time," the senior actor said.

Mumbai, April 26 (IANS) Stand-up comedian Krushna Abhishek has finally returned to the 'The Kapil Sharma Show'.

Krushna, who is known for playing the character of Sapna on the show, informed his fans through his Instagram post that he is back.

In the latest promo dropped by the makers of the show, Krushna is seen entering the stage on a rickshaw with the song 'Dhol Bajne Laga... koi laut ke aaya hai' from Anil Kapoor's film 'Virasat' playing in the backdrop. As soon as he enters the show, Kapil hugs him and Krushna jokingly says he was not coming on the show because of monetary issues.

New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Popular comedian Kapil Sharma recalled his childhood memory when his late father, Jeetendra Kumar Punj, who was a head constable in Punjab Police had beaten him so badly that his entire locality saw him being punished by his dad.

In a recent promo of 'The Kapil Sharma Show', the host shared a memory with the veteran actor and celebrity guest Raj Babbar in which he talked about his childhood days.

He shared: "I was about 15 years old when my father came home with his friend in a police jeep and kept keys on the table and went inside his room. Out of curiosity, I took the keys and started the car, but didn't know how it began to reverse and hit the vegetable cart standing behind."

"All the bottle gourds on it flew in the air. We all generally see in movies that when kids fall down their parents ask about their well-being. However, with me, until I could keep them back, my dad came out and started hitting me," added Kapil.

Bhubaneswar, March 22 (IANS) The Odisha government on Wednesday announced exemption from entertainment tax for Bollywood film "Zwigato", which was shot in Bhubaneswar.

After attending a special screening of the film, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal in this regard on Wednesday.

The movie, directed by Nandita Das, stars Kapil Sharma and Sahana Goswami in the lead roles and depicts the life of a food delivery boy and his struggle.

The Odisha government is promoting the state as a destination for film shooting through proactive policies. This will promote tourism potential and provide employment opportunities for talented youth, an official said.

The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of Nandita Das for promoting Odisha as a destination for shooting commercial movies.

Mumbai, March 4 (IANS) Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma, who is gearing up for his upcoming film 'Zwigato', has shared that he was initially uncertain about his part in the film.

The reason behind this was that the film was a moving drama and he being a comedian, came with a certain image of a comic that he has built over the years with his television shows playing in every Indian household since close to 2 decades now.

Kapil, who plays a food delivery partner in 'Zwigato', told IANS: "I was approached by Nandita ma'am for the film and I loved the story but I was quite aware that if you're a comedian then the audience doesn't take you very seriously when you play a dramatic role."

He continued: "Sab apko 15-20 saal se dekh rahe hain television pe hanste hue, muskuraate hue, masti karte hue toh audience ko apko as a serious character visualise karne mein thodi dikkat aati hai (Since the audience has seen you laughing, pulling off pranks on television, they find it difficult to visualise you as a serious character)".

What eventually helped him navigate through this character was his background as a theatre actor.

"Par main theatre background se aata hoon jahan hume serious kaam karne ko hi milta tha, toh apne andar ke theatre actor ko pakad ke maine is film pe kaam kiya aur dil se ek kahaani bana di (But, I have worked in theatre where we only used to do serious parts. So, I approached this part like a theatre actor and worked on it with utmost honesty). We have been getting good response at the film festivals, I hope the audience likes it too," he added.

'Zwigato' produced by Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives, and has been directed by Nandita Das. The film is set to release in cinemas on March 17.
