She points out that her recent release is a prime example of this.

The actress said: I'm glad that 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway' is showing us that a content film can be a theatrical film in a post pandemic world. I feel as an industry we just need to make films that touch people's hearts and not focus on which genre will work on the big screen and which won't. If we make a film that's good, there will always be an audience who will come to the big screen to have a unique community viewing experience."

She further mentioned: "As a society, we want to celebrate and experience things together. So, I have never believed that people are turning their backs to theatres after the pandemic. People just want to see new, fresh and disruptive content that is engaging enough for them to step out and invest their time and money over it."

Chuffed with the response to the film, Rani shared that a good film will always resonate with the audience at large.

"I'm really happy to see the response from audiences because they have been giving the film with overwhelming amounts of love and I can't thank them enough. I have always believed that a good film will always resonate with people and they will come out to the theatres to get an experience that is uplifting," she concluded.

'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway', which also stars Anirban Bhattacharya and Jim Sarbh, is playing in cinemas.

Mumbai, March 1 (IANS) Docu-series 'The Romantics' pays homage to Sridevi, the iconic Yash Raj Films heroine who made the entire country fall in love with her in the cult romantic blockbuster 'Chandni'. Actress Rani Mukerji said that every woman wanted to be like the late veteran star.

The late Yash Chopra is seen revealing why he wanted to make a pristine love story for audiences.

He said: "Our industry had reached the saturation point of violence. I said okay, now I'll do the biggest gamble of my life whatever happens. I won't make a film with formulas, with calculations. I will make a film which will touch my heart. I started Chandni."

However, the legendary Yash Chopra's career was at a low then, having delivered some unsuccessful films. So, it was not easy for him to sign Sridevi, who in her prime was considered bigger than the heroes of India. Even though he had never worked with Sridevi, Yash Chopra admitted that he was impressed by the Tamil drama Moondram Pirai that Amitabh Bachchan had shown him.

Anil Kapoor revealed: "Sridevi was the top star at that time. I didn't know how to approach her. I asked my brother (Boney Kapoor) to speak to her. So, my brother flew down to Chennai to talk to her mother. It didn't matter to her who Yash Chopra is, who has made such great films, it was just the money."

The success of 'Chandni' was a watershed moment for Yash Chopra and YRF's destiny and Sridevi's brilliance in Chandni has inspired the leading ladies of our times to follow in her footsteps to deliver path-breaking performances on screen.

Rani Mukherji said: "Like every woman wanted to be Sridevi. She was the epitome of grace, beauty, and performance. She was just everything, that a Hindi film actress needed to have."

About her memory of Sridevi as Chandni, Bhumi Pednekar said: "Oh my, God. She was just so fantastic and beautiful, and vulnerable, but she was still so womanly."

Mumbai, Feb 28 (IANS) Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, who is receiving a lot of appreciation for the trailer of her upcoming film 'Mrs. Chatterjee VS Norway' is chuffed with the response and has compared it to the appreciation that she received 18 years ago for her film 'Black'.

The trailer of 'Mrs. Chatterjee VS Norway' shows the struggle of a mother against an organised racket in Norway which takes children away from their biological parents and hands them over to foster parents for money.

Overwhelmed by the reactions, Rani said: "The reactions to the trailer have been too special and overwhelming, to say the least... I'm very humbled seeing the love pouring in from the world over, from my fans, people who have watched the trailer on social media, my own industry colleagues, friends, and family."

She further said: "In my entire career, this is probably the first time I am witnessing so much love and emotion of this kind for my work!! The last I remember this had happened was during Black! Very rarely do we get to see such unanimous reactions for a trailer. To see people get teary-eyed and cry after seeing the trailer of a film is again never heard of before."

The actress feels that the relatability to the ordeal of a mother has played a major role in widespread appreciation of the trailer. She continued: "Somewhere they are connecting to the helplessness of a mother and are getting angered by the injustice. I am witnessing these kinds of reactions for the very first time. It baffles them that it's a true story."

"I am really happy and hopeful that if the trailer can move them to this degree, they will definitely be moved to see Debika's cathartic journey in the film. So keeping my fingers crossed for the 17th of March as the film hits the theatre. It needs all the love from everyone everywhere, so hoping and praying it finds its audience in large numbers," she added.

The film, produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment, has been helmed by Ashima Chibber, and is slated to release in theatres on March 17.
