New Delhi, December 11 The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed social media platforms to take action within three days regarding a plea seeking protection of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's personality rights. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora stated that she would issue a detailed interim injunction regarding other entities involved in the matter.

The High Court directed the social media platforms to treat Khan's petition as a complaint under the Information and Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and take necessary steps within three days. As per agency report, the court observed that if the social media platforms have any objection to any weblinks provided by Khan, they must inform the actor. Khan had filed the petition in the High Court to restrain social media platforms and e-commerce websites from the unauthorized use of his name, image, and personality, and to protect his personality rights.

The right of publicity grants an individual the right to protect, control, and profit from their image, name, or personality, and is commonly known as personality rights. Recently, several other public figures including Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, her husband Abhishek Bachchan and mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn, filmmaker Karan Johar, singer Kumar Sanu, Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, and podcaster Raj Shamani have also approached the High Court to protect their personality and publicity rights.

The court granted interim relief to all these individuals. Telugu film actor NTR Rao Jr. has also approached the Delhi High Court in this regard, although the court has not yet passed any order on his petition.

Mumbai, May 23: In light of repeated security breaches and ongoing threats to actor Salman Khan, the Mumbai Police is planning to introduce stricter identity verification protocols for visitors entering Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where the Bollywood star resides. As per agency report, this move comes after multiple instances of unauthorized entries into the building, raising serious concerns about the safety of its residents.

Galaxy Apartments has been under heightened scrutiny since Salman Khan was placed under Y-plus category security following persistent threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s network. Earlier this week, police arrested two individuals—a man named Jitendra Singh and a woman named Isha Chhabria—for allegedly attempting to enter the premises without authorization.

A senior police official stated that regulating visitor access to a private residential building like Galaxy Apartments poses challenges, but the situation now requires enhanced vigilance. One of the proposed measures involves requiring new visitors to verify their identity through confirmation from residents of the building.

The threats to Salman Khan have been ongoing. In April last year, alleged members of the Bishnoi gang opened fire outside the apartment building. In another incident last December, a man infiltrated a film set and reportedly threatened Salman’s bodyguard using Lawrence Bishnoi’s name.

Vadodara, April 15: The individual who allegedly sent a death threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan via a police helpline has been traced to a village in Vadodara district, Gujarat, and has been diagnosed with mental illness, according to police officials.

The 26-year-old man, identified as Mayank Pandya, resides in a village in Waghodia taluka. He has not been arrested but has been issued a formal notice by the Mumbai Police, instructing him to appear for questioning if required. As per agency report, the threatening message was sent on Sunday through the WhatsApp helpline of Mumbai's traffic police, where the sender claimed he would bomb Salman Khan's car and attack him at his residence, despite the actor being under Y-plus category security.

Following the receipt of the message, the Worli Police in Mumbai registered a case under Section 351(2)(3) of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to criminal intimidation. Security around Khan's residence in Bandra was also intensified.

Vadodara District Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand informed reporters that the investigation traced the origin of the message to Waghodia taluka. Upon visiting the suspect’s house with assistance from the local police, it was revealed that Pandya was suffering from a mental illness and is currently undergoing treatment.

Authorities have confirmed that a notice was issued to Pandya, requiring him to present himself before the Mumbai Police if summoned. Officials stated that there is no immediate plan to arrest him due to his medical condition.
